WELCOME NEW PROJECT SEARCH PARTICIPANTS!
Hunt Regional Healthcare is partnering for the second year with local high schools and Project Search for a volunteer opportunity.
The focus of this national program is to serve young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who may benefit from personalized support in an intensive year of career development and internship experience. Project Search is a “transition to work“ program that will allow individuals to gain knowledge in areas within the hospital system and prepare them for possible future employment at businesses in their community. These participants have graduated high school and have gone through an interview process. This year's interns join us from Greenville, Caddo Mills, and Commerce ISDs.

Dehydration is one of the most preventable things, which, if left ignored, can lead to more serious health issues. Therefore it is recommended by experts that eight glasses of water a day is a good standard to maintain. Not only does your body stay hydrated, but water also helps flush toxins out of the body.

Symptoms to watch for include:
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Headache
- Tiredness
- Dry mouth, lips, and eyes
- Passing small amounts of urine infrequently (less than three or four times a day)
- High body temperature (103°F or higher)
- Hot, red, dry, or damp skin
- Fast, strong resting pulse
- Nausea
- Confusion
- Losing consciousness (passing out)

If you or someone you know is experiencing severe symptoms caused by overheating or dehydration, quickly take them to the nearest emergency center or call 911.

1. Apply sunscreen
Getting sunburned can be preventable when using sunscreen to protect your skin. If you tend to burn quickly, liquid sunscreen could be the better option for you since it is thicker and easy to see where you have applied. Spray sunscreen can be great for those days when you're racing out the door and need a more convenient, quicker way to apply your skin protection. Most importantly, read the directions on the back of your sunscreen—knowing how far in advance to apply your skin protection and how often to reapply it can make all the difference.

2. Wear the correct eyewear
Protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays can be as simple as wearing a pair of sunglasses on those bright summer days. Individuals with corrective lenses have great options too; use prescription sunglasses or transition day-to-night glasses to protect your eyes.

3. Wear a hat
Wearing a hat can be an effective, easy way to protect your face, neck, and shoulders from the sun. Applying sunscreen is still recommended, but adding a hat to your summer wardrobe can provide extra protection for those with sensitive eyes and skin.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Upgrade Coming Soon -
It is time to upgrade our current machine, and we look forward to its arrival in a few months, so we can continue to provide high-quality care to our community.
Hunt Regional has used hyperbaric oxygen treatments for over twenty years. HBO is primarily used for treating hard-to-heal wounds and soft tissue damage. Pure oxygen is used in a pressurized environment which increases the oxygen levels in the body tissue to help heal and fight infection. Often, patients will have thirty or more visits in the chamber during their treatment scope. A patient's medical provider will refer for HBO if it is the best course of action.
New equipment helps realize our vision to create a healthier future together.

1. Enroll in swimming lessons
It's never too early to enroll your children in swimming lessons to teach them the proper skills so they stay safe in the pool this summer. You can search your local area for programs that best fit you and your family.

2. Wear a life jacket
Life jackets are important for everyone on all swimming levels so, if you and your family are out for a day of lake fun wearing a life jacket is a great way to keep everyone safe. Be sure to keep enough on hand for everyone to use, and double-check the weight capacity to properly assign each life jacket.
