A message for the students heading off to college and feeling all the feels —

This season can hold a lot: hope, fear, excitement, pressure, freedom, homesickness, confusion…sometimes all at once. You’re not alone in this.

It might not feel like you imagined at first, and that’s okay — with time, you’ll find your rhythm and your place.

Be gentle with yourself. Growth isn’t always comfortable, but you are capable, resilient, and allowed to ask for help.

Rooting for you as you step into this new chapter. 🫶🏼

Full-circle moment! Grateful for the chance to return to the University Center with my colleague and friend. We had the opportunity to speak to current Clemson counseling grad students in their lifespan development class. Always an honor to share the journey and give back to the program that shaped us! 💜🐯

If you’ve spent most of your life keeping the peace, it can feel deeply uncomfortable to say no, set a boundary, or choose yourself.

But here’s what’s true:

✅ You don’t have to be available to everyone all the time and it’s okay to say no.
✅ Not everyone will understand your boundaries, that doesn’t mean that they’re wrong.
✅ You’re not responsible for managing everyone else’s emotions.
✅ Being kind to yourself isn’t selfish — it’s necessary.

Constantly trying to please others can quietly chip away at your needs, your energy, and your sense of self. It’s exhausting and can build quiet resentment, even if your heart is in the right place.

You are still good and thoughtful even when you stop people-pleasing. 🤍

✨Exciting News✨

You can now find me at Greenville Therapy Group! I’m so excited to share that I’ve moved into a new office and started a new chapter in my work as a therapist. This space was created with care and intention—for comfort, reflection, and growth.

My hope and prayer is that everyone who walks through these doors feels seen, supported, and encouraged in their healing journey.

Grateful for what’s ahead. 🤍

Your feelings are valid, even if…

🤍 Someone else has it worse.
🤍 You can’t fully explain why you feel this way.
🤍 You’ve felt this way for a long time.
🤍 Others don’t seem to understand.
🤍 Things look fine on the outside.
🤍 You’ve been told you’re “too sensitive.”
🤍 You’ve coped in ways you’re not proud of.
🤍 You’re still able to get through the day.

Emotions don’t need to be justified to be real. What you’re feeling matters—and you deserve support. 🫶🏼

Sometimes, despite trying therapy or making lifestyle changes, symptoms can feel overwhelming. Knowing when to consider medication is important!

Here are a few signs it might be time to explore this option:
💕 Persistent symptoms that don’t improve, even with therapy or self-care.
💕 Significant struggles with sleep, nutrition, relationships, or work, making it hard to take care of yourself.
💕 Feeling stuck—like nothing is helping, and daily life feels harder than it should.

Research shows that when needed, combining medication with therapy is often more effective than either approach alone for many mental health conditions. Medication can help regulate symptoms, making it easier to engage fully in therapy and other healing practices.

It’s important to remember that reaching out to a doctor or psychiatrist doesn’t mean you have to start medication right away. Instead, it’s an opportunity to learn about your options, ask questions, and make an informed decision.

And if you do start medication, it doesn’t mean it has to be for forever. Different phases of life bring different challenges, and medication can be a temporary tool to help you through particularly tough times.

Choosing to explore medication doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it means you’re advocating for yourself and your well-being. ✨

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ is a chance to step forward with intention—focusing on what matters most and letting go of what no longer serves us.

Here are some ideas to help guide you in setting intentions:

✨ Choose Progress Over Perfection
It’s not about doing it all; it’s about doing what feels right, one step at a time.

✨ Create Space for Rest
Rest is where growth happens. Prioritize moments to recharge and reflect.

✨ Stay Open to the Unexpected
Life rarely goes as planned, but valuable lessons can be learned when least expected.

✨ Be Gentle with Yourself
Growth and healing take time. You are exactly where you need to be.

What intentions are you setting for this new year?🤍

I know it’s winter, and here I am talking about seashells—but stick with me, it’s worth it! ☀️

Shoutout to my amazing colleague, Mary Kathryn, for sharing this beautiful perspective that has stuck with me.

When we find seashells, we don’t see them as broken—we see their beauty, shaped by time and the ocean’s waves. Their unique flaws and smooth edges tell a story, and we love them just as they are. Seashells don’t fight the waves; they simply go with them, allowing the ocean to refine them into something beautiful.

As therapists, we view our clients the same way. You are not broken. We see your beauty, strength, and the ways life has shaped you.

Instead of fighting the waves, what if we let them shape us? Like seashells, we are beautiful just the way we are. Trust the process—you’re enough. 🐚💙

🌿 Seasons of Life 🌿

I often think of the phases of life as seasons. Some are filled with struggle, while others bring joy. Each season eventually passes, making room for growth and new beginnings.

In tough seasons, it can be hard to see the lessons, but even then, growth is happening. 🌱 When joy comes, be present —those moments are just as fleeting and help balance the difficult ones. 🌸

Embrace where you are today and if you’re navigating a tough season, you don’t have to do it alone.

Excited to announce that I am now trained in EMDR therapy 👏🏼🎉

What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — a big name for a powerful therapy! 👁️✨

What is it used for?
Research shows EMDR can help with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other trauma-related symptoms. Remember, trauma is personal—what’s traumatic for one person might not be for another. It can be any event that overwhelms your ability to cope.

What happens in a session?
First, you and your therapist focus on history-taking, planning, and building skills. Then, you’ll work on identifying specific memories for reprocessing. During reprocessing, Bilateral Stimulation (BLS), which mimics REM sleep, is used to help your brain reduce the emotional charge of the memory while you share what comes up. In tandem, shifting negative beliefs to more positive ones. 🌙💬

It might sound complex, but EMDR is incredible. It helps your emotional and logical sides work together to heal, leaving you less impacted by painful memories. 💖

Curious if EMDR could help you? Feel free to reach out and ask!

Exciting news: I’m officially trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy! 🎉

This evidence-based approach is an incredible tool for helping clients process trauma and negative experiences, paving the way for healing and growth. I’m so grateful to be able to offer this to the individuals I work with.

Stay tuned—an EMDR info post is coming soon to explain more about how it works and who it can help! 👀

Emotions are complex and two things can be true at once.

You can:
✨Grieve but still feel gratitude.
✨Be excited but also feel anxious.
✨Feel happy for someone else and still feel jealousy.
✨Love someone and feel hurt by them.

It’s okay to let them coexist without judgment 🫶🏼
