Heat sensitivity is a common challenge for people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Even small increases in body temperature—from hot weather, exercise, or a warm shower—can temporarily worsen symptoms like fatigue, blurred vision, weakness, or brain fog.
This reaction, known as Uhthoff’s phenomenon, doesn’t mean new damage is occurring, but it can be a powerful reminder of how important it is to listen to your body.
Cooling strategies can make a big difference:
❄️ Stay hydrated
❄️ Seek shade or air-conditioning
❄️ Use cooling towels or vests
❄️ Take breaks during activity
❄️ Choose cooler times of day to move your body
Living with MS often means learning to work with your body instead of pushing against it. Rest, adapt, and give yourself grace on the hotter days.
