This is true! ADHD folks have slower frontal lobe development and are usually late bloomers. We ADHD parents should expect to provide scaffolding for our kids for much longer than neuro typical kids need (often mid to late 20’s).

I see it every day in my practice. Even folks who have overcome some behaviors, can fall back into old, ineffective coping patterns. It is easier to bounce back though, if you reduce your stress and remember the hard work you’ve done.
