Proof that the best moments happen when weโ€™re together ๐Ÿ’œ

From patients and families to providers and partners, this reel says it all! Smiles, connection, and a whole lot of heart. Blooms & Bytes wasnโ€™t just an event, it was a reminder that our community shows up, supports one another, and grows stronger together (with a few cute moments along the way ๐Ÿ’โœจ).

Our HTC event, Blooms & Bytes, was truly a beautiful success! We loved bringing together patients, families, providers, and community partners for a day centered on connection, learning, and empowerment through technology and shared experiences. From engaging, hands-on topic tables to bouquet building and enjoying a meal together, every moment created space for meaningful conversations and support.

The impact speaks for itself! 100% of participants rated the event as Excellent or Very Good, 100% reported learning about new tools or resources, and 89% shared that they felt more connected to the bleeding disorders community after attending. That sense of connection and growth is exactly what this event is all about.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make this day so special. ๐Ÿ’œ Weโ€™re so grateful for this community and already looking forward to the next Blooms & Bytes! ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’›

March is Child Life Month, a time to recognize the professionals who help make the hospital/ clinic experience less frightening and more supportive for children and their families through play, education, and compassionate care.

We are proud to celebrate two members of our team. Tamika Mackey, who has been with us for 10 years and has 18 years of experience as a Child Life Specialist, shares: โ€œI enjoy helping children and families get through tough times by holding a hand, being a listening ear, and providing children with a sense of normalcy in an unfamiliar place. If I can make one child smile a day, then my job is done.โ€

We also welcome Amanda Williams, who recently joined the Hematology & Oncology team. She shares: โ€œI love working as a Child Life Specialist and am so grateful to be part of the hematology & oncology team. Every day, I get the chance to walk alongside families on both good days and very difficult days, which is one of the greatest honors of my career. My role is to provide emotional support, education, therapeutic play, and other interventions to help make the hospital and a diagnosis less scary and more understandable for patients and their families.โ€
This month, we thank our Child Life team for the compassion, creativity, and support they bring to our patients and families every day. ๐Ÿ’›

This month, weโ€™re celebrating two of our providers in the month of March! Dr. Mercer, who has been with our team for 2.5 years, and Dr. Parthasarathy, who has been with us for almost a year, both play an important role in the care and support we provide to our patients and families. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to compassionate care make a meaningful difference every day. Please join us in recognizing and celebrating them this March!

Social Work Month was first celebrated in March 1963 to build public support for the profession. It has become an event celebrated by hundreds of thousands of social workers and their supporters each year. This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œSocial Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform.โ€ Join us in celebrating and thanking our social workers, Charmaine Bond and Rachel Craft!

Charmaine has been serving our team and families for 15 years, living out her belief that โ€œOne person can make a difference, and everyone should try.โ€ โ€“ John F. Kennedy. Her steady presence and advocacy truly reflect that impact every single day.
Rachel, who has been with us for almost two years, beautifully embodies why she loves social work: โ€œThe best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do somethingโ€ฆ If you go out and make good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.โ€ โ€“ Barack Obama.

Thank you, Charmaine and Rachel, for the compassion, dedication, and hope you both bring to our patients, families, and community. ๐Ÿ’™

In the ring for the real fighters. ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿ’›

The energy was high, but the mission was even higher. Dr. Fuh โ€œThe Ultimate Fuhnamiโ€ stepped into the ring and proved this fight was about so much more than boxing. Fight night brought the energy, the crowd brought the noise, and together we raised meaningful support for Riley's Army, standing beside children battling cancer and the families who fight right alongside them across North Carolina.

Because no child fights alone.
