Welp, school is beginning back and all the little germ factories will be running at an efficiency to make even Henry Ford proud. Flu's and RSV's and Poxes, oh my indeed. Not to worry, though, there are plenty of defenses around and we have some of them here at Greenville Family Doctors for your convenience! We have begun stocking this year's strain of Flu vaccine, as well as the RSV for the first time. If you're interested in receiving these please let your provider know at your appointment and they'll be happy to get their assistant to poke* you!

Time flies when you're having fun, they say. Back when Greenville was a wee bit smaller, Dr Quentin Mewborn Jr. joined a group of Senior Physicians who were part of the Greenville Clinic. In March of 1975, the group decided to revamp their image with a name change, and Greenville Family Doctors was born. Today, even 50 years later, GFD still strives to provide passionate primary care to Greenville and beyond. We hope you'll join us in celebrating this legacy, and our hope to continue to serve the community for years to come!

Random Health Fact of the Day!

Out of the typical 206 bones in the human body, approximately 27% of them are housed in the hands. These small masses of hard minerals, collagen, and water fit snugly together with cartilage to assist with the dexterous movement and range of motion that allows humans to excel at a variety of work. Whether it be needlework, typing, or even construction projects the hands are very important to human work/recreational function. It stands to reason then that they require some extra care sometimes to ensure their continued usage.

Good diet and exercise can go a long way to helping with strength and flexibility, and one such useful exercise is the Hand/Finger Tendon Glide. Using the images on this post as a guide, the steps are as follows:

Start with the fingers extended straight out.

• Make a hook fist; return to a straight hand.

• Make a full fist; return to a straight hand.

• Make a straight fist; return to a straight hand.

The typical regiment calls for 10 repetitions, three times a day, but feel free to adjust if needed.

Greenville Family Doctors is a proud sponsor of Ayden Middle School's TSA team that competed in this year's national competition in Kentucky. We are proud to announce that Dr Becerra's son, Brett Becerra and his teammate Ryan Jones placed eighth in the country for structural engineering. They are the first team from Ayden to ever place. We are proud of them and the entire AMS TSA team. Way to go guys!
