Elisabeth Elliot knew the basis for Acceptance & Commitment therapy before it became a therapeutic modality. She was right. We can’t let fear hold us back from moving toward what we want and/or are called to.

The struggle is real….content creation is not my main thing but therapy is & I do admit that I have a bit of a creative bug (my undergrad degree is in marketing).

Good thing I tried to do a pre-live live on YouTube today. I didn’t realize I had to request live streaming access. (My ADHD brain 🧠 usually results in procrastination)….we should be good to go by tomorrow at 7pm!

Link to my YouTube channel is in my instagram profile. If things so haywire tomorrow, I’ll do the live on IG. Maybe I’ll do both. Either way, grab a hot cup of tea ☕️ and join me tomorrow to talk about how to integrate faith and trauma into parenting.

I recently joined the Christian Counselor Network! I'm excited and honored to share the mission of Focus on the Family and to partner with them in providing faith-integrated counseling services here in Greenville.

I began my journey into counseling through full-time ministry, where I discovered a deep calling to walk alongside people in seasons of growth, suffering, and transformation. As a member of a military family, I understand firsthand the unique challenges of transition, sacrifice, resilience, and iden...

Personal responsibility is the theme around here. I’m still learning & I want my kids to learn that people can’t “make you feel” a certain way. I understand that this is nuanced and a very reductionistic point. I realize that others do impact us (deeply) …. AND we don’t have to give others that much power over our emotions. We have a choice. It’s called free will. It begins with small shifts. It grows with practice & internal safety - both of which can be taught at home & modeled by parents.

It can be as simple as a shift in how we communicate our feelings. Tell me how these two sound a different to you when you read them:

A) “He made me mad when he wouldn’t get out of my room”

B) “I felt dismissed and unheard when my request was ignored”

Same feeling. Different ways to own it and communicate it. Different narrative being written on our heart and in our mind.

Research shows (and God’s word proves) that bottom-up therapy is more effective than top-down.

In simple terms this means that cognitive behavioral therapy isn’t effective with a dysregulated nervous system.

I’m putting together a FREE faith-integrated & trauma-informed parenting workshop to dig into this more. COMING SOON!!!
