Ice Storm Safety Reminders for Our Seniors

Dear Community,
With the ice storm moving in, here are some helpful reminders to keep you safe and cozy:

✅ Stay off slippery walkways. If you must go outside, take tiny steps and use handrails when available.
✅ Keep pathways clear. Ask a neighbor or caregiver to help with de-icing or shoveling.
✅ Stay warm. Dress in layers — hats, scarves, and gloves help keep heat in.
✅ Check your emergency kit. Make sure you have flashlights, batteries, blankets, water, and meds.
✅ Keep phones charged. Charge your phone and have a backup power bank ready.
✅ Eat regularly & stay hydrated. Warm foods and drinks help maintain body heat.
✅ Watch for signs of cold-related issues:
• Shivering that won’t stop
• Confusion or drowsiness
• Stiff muscles or slow responses
If you notice these, call for help right away.
✅ Stay connected. Call or message a friend, family member, or caregiver daily so someone knows you’re okay.
