Congratulations to our behavioral health faculty, Erika Taylor, LMFT-S, BC-TMH, whose commentary on school-based behavioral telehealth and the Healthier Lives at School & Beyond Telemedicine Program was published, alongside her colleagues in the ECU Department of Public Health, in the North Carolina Medical Journal’s Spring 2026 issue.

Erika was one of the program’s first behavioral telehealth providers in 2017 and now manages behavioral telehealth services, which includes a clinical internship program focused on training the next generation of behavioral health providers.

Congratulations to Dr. House and our sports medicine and physical therapy teams for piloting a new interprofessional care approach to reducing pain associated with osteoarthritis!

Dr. Greg House, director of ECU Health Family Medicine Center - Sports Medicine, recently partnered with an East Carolina University physical therapist and physical therapy and nursing students on a pilot research study to see if patients working together as a team can reduce the painful effects of osteoarthritis.

The study brought together 10 participants to work together while filling treatment gaps with complimentary medical teams. Additionally, the students involved received important hands-on clinical training during the study.
