🚨 MAJOR NEW RESPONSE TO BMJ ON RISING INCIDENCE OF CANCER IN ENGLAND 🚨
Two of the EM Radiation Research Trust scientific advisors, Professor Denis Henshaw and Alasdair Philips, have submitted a rapid response to the BMJ following publication of the Garcia-Closas et al BMJ Oncology paper. Their response has been published in the BMJ Responses section and calls for further investigation of potential environmental contributors to rising cancer incidence in England.
A new analysis highlights a significant and unexplained rise in 11 different cancers across multiple age groups, with concerning increases also being seen in younger adults.
This reflects a broader population level shift in cancer incidence patterns that cannot be fully explained by established risk factors alone.
In their BMJ response, Henshaw and Philips raise the question of whether electromagnetic fields from power frequency and radiofrequency sources should be considered among potential contributing factors. They also highlight biological mechanisms including melatonin disruption and oxidative stress pathways, noting that melatonin is produced not only in the brain but also in the gut, where it supports mucosal protection, immune regulation and gut function.

These findings align with wider international patterns of changing cancer incidence across multiple countries.
⚠️ These trends require open scientific investigation, transparency and a precautionary approach to public health.
