I was honored to be a speaker at the International Conference on Dupuytren Disease in Brussels, May 16-17 where I discussed the role of collagenase and the problem of contracture recurrence. I learned about new findings on genetics, cellular biology and evolving treatments from speakers from Europe, Australia and the US. These presenters spoke about the role for humira in early disease, radiation therapy and innovative surgical techniques. Thanks to Dr. DeGreef for hosting a great meeting!

I am excited to have performed the first ten endoscopic carpal tunnel releases with the newly released VECTR device by Rafael Medical Devices. The VECTR is an all-in-one peel pack system that allows a surgeon to efficiently and safely perform endoscopic carpal tunnel release in a very small footprint without bulky arthroscopy equipment or need to sterilize equipment. This will allow surgeons to reduce turnover times and sterilization costs at ASCs and even enhance the ability to perform this surgery under WALANT local analgesia in the office setting.

Proud to support Project Music. Last week, I attended Project Music's Tenth Anniversary Gala Extravaganza with my partner and fellow hand surgeon Dr. Matthew Cantlon. All proceeds from the event supported Project Music and their mission to use the transformative power of music to effect positive social change for the students most in need of access, opportunity, and inspiration.

I learned a lot about Dupuytren's contracture from our panel of thought leaders from around the world as I moderated an Instructional Course Lecture at the 2024 ASSH in Minneapolis—International Perspectives on Dupuytren's Disease. Thank you to our speakers, Drs. Prosper Benhaim (USA), Juan Carlos Marquez (Spain), Donald Lalonde (Canada), Ilse Degreef (Belgium), and Paul Werker (Netherlands).

Proud of my coauthors at the ONS Foundation and honored to coauthor this study with one of my mentors who developed this technique, Dr. Bernard Morrey, from the Mayo Clinic. Intrabursal injection of doxycyline was a safe and effective alternative to surgical treatment for olecranon bursitis refractory to conservative management.

Fascinating study out of UK and Netherlands examining anti-TNF therapy as a target to treat early stage Dupuytren's disease of the hand. TNF is thought to activate the contractility of myofibroblasts, and this trial found that anti-TNF (adalimumab) injected into nodules reduced nodule size and hardness at 18 months. Currently surgery, collagenase and percutaneous needle aponeurotomy are the only options to treat later stage Dupuytren's once contractures have already developed, but the ideal "cure" would be a way to prevent nodules from progressing to contractile cords. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35949922/

Intranodular injections of adalimumab in participants with early-stage Dupuytren's disease resulted in softening and reduction in size of the nodules. Longer follow-up would be required to assess the effect of tumour necrosis factor inhibition on disease progression, extension deficit and hand funct...
