The first Reiki Experience

This past Saturday I helped volunteer at our schools Basketball Tournament. Our Booster club hosts a huge concession stand and needed volunteers to work a shift. It's an absolute fun time! Hanging out with a bunch of amazing ladies, chatting and visiting. During the afternoon a few made comments about aches and pains which spurred others to compare in sympathy. I offered to give them each a "hit of Reiki". Only our intrepid leader had experienced Reiki before. Each lady was shocked when they felt it. It gives me a little thrill to see people's faces during their first time. The shock and then awe that "hey that's actually real"! 😆 Even I thought "Reiki" was some crazy lady stuff. Until I experienced it for the first time. That was 10 years ago and at the encouragement of my practitioner I studied and became one myself.

I can't stand to see/feel people in pain. I am often doing Reiki on people in public just anywhere. So if you see some red haired lady holding her hands over someone in public it's probably just me. Yesterday i helped with carpel tunnel, chronic headaches, back pain.

Why not come try it for yourself? I do appointments nights and weekends, right in downtown Greenwich. Idlenot Fibersmiths, located at 87 Main St. 30 minutes is $30 and 60 minutes is $60. Give me a call at 518 538-7528.

Please be gentle with yourself. It's still winter/resting time.

Tonight, you are allowed to simply be.

It’s about remembering who you are beneath the noise.

She is the woman who has lived many seasons
—the maiden who hoped,
—the mother who carried,
—the crone who knows.

Christmas Eve doesn’t ask you to be joyful or whole.

It simply invites you to rest in the in-between.
Winter is not the end of you.

It is the quiet moment before spring remembers your name.

Full Moons of 2026 🌕

Beloved witches and moonlit wanderers, gather close.... because today I want to tell you a winter story.

After Krampus has rattled his chains through the early December nights,
the Alpine villages say another figure begins her slow, deliberate walk
through the deepening dark.

Frau Perchta.
The Winter Mother.
The Bright One.
The lady who wanders between the worlds when the snow lies heavy
and the year stands on its last trembling edge.

In some tales she appears as a shining woman in white,
her cloak crisp as frost and her face lit like moon on snow.
In others she’s a stern winter witch,
sharp-eyed, wild-haired,
with a spindle in her hand and a host of spirits at her back.
Children were warned to keep their promises,
adults to finish their work,
and everyone to keep their hearth in good order...
for Perchta sees everything,
and winter gives her nothing to hide behind.

But behind the dramatic stories lies something far more timeless:
Perchta is the spirit of winter alignment.
She is the force that walks the quiet rooms of the soul,
checking the loose threads, the broken vows, the neglected corners
of both home and heart.

And for modern witches, her energy feels like a whisper at the door:

What needs to be completed before the year turns?
What truth needs owning?
What boundary needs mending?
What part of your life wants to be shaped back into integrity?

Where Krampus brings the wild shadow,
Perchta brings the winter reckoning.
It's not cruel... it's just... honest.

Her story invites us to tend what’s unfinished,
to clear what’s stagnant,
and to step into the new year with our threads clean and strong.

May her winter wisdom steady your steps this season,
and may your path be lit by the Bright One’s quiet light.

❄️
Luv 🖤
Baba

I firmly believe in the power of crystals as an addition to Reiki for healing. I always give each client specially curated crystals to help aid in their healing process. I also make lots of fun and interesting crystal items. I have them for sale at my treatment room store front, Idlenot Fibersmiths on 87 Main St., Greenwich Ny12834.

I also enjoy making and teaching others about traditional craft items such as Dream Catchers, Witches Bells, Besom Brooms, Yule Balls and many others. I still have a few spots left in my December 9th and 13th Yule ball class. I also will be having a class in January to learn about "Kitchen Witches" . Each participant will make their very own traditional hearth protector.

Reiki appointments are always available by appointment on nights and weekends. $30 for 30 minutes and $60 for 60 minutes. Gift cards for Reiki sessions, Crystal items or for a class are available! Contact me here or at 518 538-7528.

Who Is the Green Santa?

Before the bright red suit became famous around the world, Santa Claus had another form — older, wilder, and deeply connected to nature. This was the Green Santa, a figure rooted in ancient winter traditions and the spirit of the earth.

In early European folklore, the Green Santa — often known as Father Christmas — was not just a giver of gifts. He was the embodiment of winter’s magic, the turning of the seasons, and the quiet promise of renewal.

Clothed in deep green robes, he symbolized:
• the life hidden beneath the snow
• the evergreen trees that survive the cold
• the return of sunlight after the longest night
• the sacred cycles of nature

Long before modern celebrations, people honored the winter solstice through Yule, lighting fires and decorating with holly and ivy. During this time, the Green Santa appeared as a guardian of warmth, joy, and rebirth — a gentle reminder that even in the darkest days, life continues.

It was only in the 20th century that the red-suited Santa became popular, replacing the older green-clad spirit. Yet the Green Santa still lives on in folklore, pagan traditions, and the heart of winter magic.

He is the spirit of nature, renewal, and ancient festive joy — the Santa of the forests, the evergreens, and the old ways.
