Feeling blessed coming off of an amazing trip to Orlando for meetings where I had the honor of speaking on my first AAO panel and had the chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues from the entire span of my professional career! It’s a beautiful thing to watch all of us enjoying the fruits of our labor after years of racking up degrees and training. Now, back to our regular programming!

Those of you who know me well know that I have had a lifelong passion for writing, which is why I was beyond excited go be selected as a 2024-2025 Doximity Op-Med fellow. I’m excited to share my first published piece regarding my unfortunate first job experience - the silver lining is that I now have a dream practice situation for which I am grateful every day. I hope my piece can serve as a cautionary tale for newly-minted physicians as they seek their first jobs.

Of all the areas of the face I treat in my practice, the lips are the most feared by patients. Most of us have seen the dramatic transformations, but those are not for everyone. As we age, the lips lose volume, much like other areas in the face, and at times the only way to address the changes around the mouth are to go to the source of the matter 🫦

This beautiful patient wanted a subtle volume replacement to address the loss of upper lip and increasingly pronounced lines around the mouth. With 1️⃣💉 of Volbella, we were able to balance her lips. After photos were obtained less than 1️⃣ week after treatment so there is still a small amount of swelling and resolving bruise, but we were both thrilled with her natural results! 💫

Today marks the first day of Spring, when the Earth finishes its rotation around the sun, and is a time for renewal. Persians celebrate this every year as one of the holy days of the Zoroastrian calendar dating back to 6th century BC. ☀️

Traditionally, a table called a haft-sin is arranged with 7 items beginning with the “s” sound in Farsi: sumac, sombol (hyacinth), sirkeh (vinegar), sabzeh (sprouts), sekkeh (coins), seeb (apple), seer (garlic). 🍃

I hope this year brings some change for the brave and beautiful women of Iran who have had to suffer political oppression and heartbreaking atrocities for so many years, but this past year in particular.
