Abilis was honored today to receive a proclamation from First Selectman Fred Camillo recognizing March as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in the Town of Greenwich. 💙

For 75 years, Abilis has supported individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, empowering people of all abilities to live meaningful, independent lives.

We were proud to hold the proclamation reading at the Café in the Greenwich Library, marking six years of partnership. Together, we launched our first café to provide meaningful employment opportunities where individuals can build skills, gain confidence, and be part of a welcoming community.

We are grateful to the library, the staff, and the patrons who support the café each day, helping make this opportunity possible and allowing us to continue advancing inclusion, opportunity, and respect for all. 💙 . .

The Abilis LEAP program supports young adults with disabilities as they transition from high school into adulthood. This community-based program helps individuals plan for post-secondary opportunities, explore career paths, and build skills for meaningful employment.

Meet Eli, Tim, Jerry, Garrett, Kyaire, Kieran, and Jordan, our interns from our two Abilis Project SEARCH programs at Greenwich Hospital and Stamford Health. Recently, the two groups met together for lunch - a chance to connect, catch up, and share how their internships are going. 💙

Project SEARCH is a 9-month program that provides hands-on internships where young adults with disabilities rotate through different departments to build job skills and prepare for competitive employment. We look forward to celebrating these interns at their upcoming graduation ceremonies in May. 🎉

Congratulations to Harry Perlman on being named Employee of the Month at AMC Port Chester! 🎉

Harry earned this recognition thanks to his consistent growth and strong performance throughout the second half of 2025. He has shown great dedication to his role, from providing excellent guest service and maintaining the theater to taking initiative in resolving customer concerns quickly and professionally. He has also helped streamline concession operations during busy hours while maintaining reliable attendance and a positive team attitude.

In the fall of 1950, a group of Greenwich parents met with the support of the Junior League of Greenwich and the Community Chest to create educational, recreational, and employment opportunities for their children with special needs.

In 1951, the Greenwich Association for Re****ed Children (GARC) was formed — the organization we now know as Abilis.

From these humble beginnings, Abilis has grown into a leading lifespan provider of services and supports for children and adults with disabilities throughout Fairfield County, CT.

This year, Abilis is celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a special Gala in April, honoring the progress made over the past seven decades and reaffirming our commitment to empowering individuals and families with the resources, opportunities, and inclusive communities they need to thrive.

Join us as we celebrate this milestone and support the future of Abilis.
