Today is Children's Grief Awareness Day, a reminder that even the smallest hearts can carry big feelings. Through our Den for Grieving Kids and Center for HOPE programs, Family Centers walks along every grieving child and their families to provide support on their journeys toward healing.

🦋 The symbol for this observance is a blue butterfly. Team members of The Den and Family Centers are proud to stand in solidarity for all children coping with loss in our community.

If you or a member of your family is struggling with grief, contact us at 203-629-2822.

Last night, we celebrated an era of New Beginnings at Family Centers’ 134th Annual Meeting.

Together with our Board of Directors, Senior Advisors, and staff, we reflected on a year of meaningful impact and inspiring accomplishments. This was also Louis Josephson's first Annual Meeting as Family Centers' CEO.

We proudly honored the extraordinary contributions of two volunteers whose actions positively impact the lives of children and families across lower Fairfield County:

🏆 Dr. Michael Hodish — recipient of the 2025 Anne Firestone Ball Family Champion Award

🏆 Patti Fast — recipient of the 2025 Helen Gratz Rockefeller Outstanding Volunteerism Award

We also welcomed three new members to our Board of Trustees:
✨ Monique Cunningham
✨ Sara Peters
✨ Claiborne Swanson Frank

Congratulations to Nisha Hurst and Meredith Pyne for being appointed Board Officers for 2025-2026.

Here’s to more New Beginnings and another year of strengthening our community together! 💛

🎃 It’s Not Spooky to Talk About Mental Health! 👻

Halloween brought plenty of frights and thrills last week, but our School-Based Health Center (SBHC) team at Greenwich High School reminded students that conversations about mental health don’t have to be scary.

During lunch waves, our licensed clinical social worker hosted a fun “Truth or Scare” game to bust common myths about mental health and share information about the services available through our SBHCs.

We loved seeing how curious and engaged students were about supporting their own well-being and learning how they can look out for one another. 💚

A wonderful start to Election Day!

This morning, we welcomed John Micklethwait, Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg, for a special Election Day edition of our Titan Breakfast.

Bloomberg Chairman Peter Grauer led a lively discussion that covered topics including the impact of the New York City Mayoral election, national policy reform, tariffs, global markets, and more.

Many thanks to our many generous sponsors and all who attended. Special thanks to Laurie and Peter Grauer for serving as co-chairs and for helping to raise more than $300,000 for our integrated network of health, education and human services.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Titan Breakfast.

Last week, our Stamford High School Based Health Center team organized its third annual Handprint Project, a school-wide event to bring awareness to domestic violence.

Students were invited to place their handprints on large sheets of paper, which will be displayed in the school. Hundreds of students participated and received bracelets, stickers and resources to help raise their own understanding of the effects of domestic violence on their lives.
