As soon as I got home, after 6 hours of trying to conform and fit in at school, having to concentrate so much more than my peers just to write a simple sentence, answer easy maths questions and make myself understood, I would be loud and boisterous (not the timid Mikey that everyone at school knew).

My mum’s solution?

Open the back door come rain or shine and let me jump on my trampoline for at least 20 minutes. She would wait patiently until I had self regulated and was ready to tell her about my day.

After school restraint collapse is real! I am not saying that this would work for everyone but it worked for me, we found what worked and went with it. 💙
