Are you up to date on your preventive care checklist? ✔️

From a primary care perspective, staying ahead of your health is one of the most important things you can do. Preventive care helps catch issues early—or even prevent them altogether—especially for conditions like Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes, and Colorectal Cancer.

Here’s a quick checklist to consider:
✔️ Annual wellness exam
✔️ Blood pressure check
✔️ Cholesterol screening
✔️ Blood sugar testing
✔️ Age-appropriate cancer screenings
✔️ Vaccinations (flu, Tdap, shingles, etc.)

Don’t forget—preventive care also includes:
✔️ Mental health check-ins
✔️ Sleep and lifestyle habits
✔️ Reviewing medications and supplements

Even if you feel well, these visits matter. Many chronic conditions develop quietly, and early detection makes a big difference.

Myth: You only need to see a doctor when you’re sick.
Fact: Regular checkups and preventive care help catch potential health issues early—before they become serious.

Even if you feel fine, routine visits can help monitor things like blood pressure, cholesterol, and overall wellness. Staying proactive about your health now can make a big difference later.

Your health isn’t just about treating illness—it’s about preventing it.

Sleep isn’t a luxury—it’s essential for your health. 💤
During Better Sleep Month, it’s the perfect time to reset your routine and prioritize rest.

Good sleep can help improve your mood, boost your immune system, and support heart health. If you’re having trouble falling or staying asleep, small changes can make a big difference:
• Stick to a consistent bedtime
• Limit screen time before bed
• Avoid caffeine late in the day
• Create a calm, comfortable sleep environment

Still not sleeping well? It might be time to talk with your provider—we’re here to help you rest easier.

It is a great time to talk about STI awareness and the importance of regular screening.

From a primary care perspective, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are common—and many do not cause obvious symptoms. Conditions like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can go unnoticed but may lead to complications if left untreated.

Here’s what we encourage:
✔️ Routine STI screening based on your age, risk factors, and sexual activity
✔️ Open conversations with your provider about sexual health—no judgment
✔️ Consistent and correct use of protection
✔️ Knowing your status and encouraging partners to do the same

Testing is simple, confidential, and an important part of taking care of your overall health.

Today is a reminder that many cancers are preventable or can be caught early with the right screening and lifestyle choices.
From a primary care perspective, prevention and early detection are key tools in reducing risk and improving outcomes—especially for conditions like Colorectal Cancer.
Here’s what we focus on in primary care:
✔️ Staying up to date on age-appropriate cancer screenings (such as colon, breast, cervical, and skin exams)
✔️ Reviewing personal and family history to assess risk
✔️ Encouraging healthy habits like balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and avoiding to***co
✔️ Discussing vaccinations that help prevent certain cancers (such as HPV and hepatitis B)
Small, consistent steps can make a big difference over time. Many cancers don’t cause symptoms in early stages, which is why routine screening matters—even when you feel well.
If you’re unsure which screenings you need or when to start, a primary care visit is the right place to begin

Spring cleaning isn’t just about tidying up—it’s also a great opportunity to improve your indoor air quality 🌿

From a primary care perspective, allergens like dust and mold can contribute to respiratory symptoms and worsen conditions such as Asthma and Allergic Rhinitis.

As you clean this season, keep in mind:
✔️ Dust regularly using damp cloths or HEPA-filter vacuums to avoid stirring particles into the air
✔️ Wash bedding, curtains, and soft surfaces frequently
✔️ Check areas prone to moisture (bathrooms, basements, under sinks) for mold growth
✔️ Use exhaust fans or dehumidifiers to reduce humidity
✔️ Replace HVAC filters as recommended

Signs your indoor air may be affecting your health:
• Frequent sneezing or congestion at home
• Worsening cough or wheezing indoors
• Eye irritation or headaches

Small environmental changes can make a big difference in how you feel day to day. If symptoms persist, your primary care provider can help evaluate and guide next steps.

Spring is here—and for many patients, that means asthma flare-ups.

From a primary care perspective, seasonal changes can trigger worsening symptoms of Asthma due to pollen, temperature shifts, and increased outdoor exposure.

Common signs of a flare:
• Increased coughing or wheezing
• Shortness of breath
• Needing your rescue inhaler more often
• Nighttime symptoms disrupting sleep

A few ways to stay ahead this season:
✔️ Take controller medications as prescribed (even when you feel well)
✔️ Keep your rescue inhaler accessible
✔️ Check daily pollen counts and limit exposure on high days
✔️ Shower and change clothes after being outdoors
✔️ Review your asthma action plan with your provider

If you’re using your rescue inhaler more frequently or your symptoms feel harder to control, it may be time for a medication adjustment.

Primary care is here to help you breathe easier this spring
