At our recent 2025 Leadership Retreat and Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, we gave out two new awards — the CarePoint Catalyst Award and the CarePoint Edison Award!

The Catalyst Award honors a clinician who embodies leadership, forward-thinking, and the courage to challenge the status quo in healthcare while the Edison Award recognizes a clinician who illuminates new paths in patient care, clinical practice, or organizational processes.

A big congratulations to our two award winners — Tad Miller, CarePoint's advanced practice provider champion, and Chris Holmes, an emergency medicine physician by day and technology guru by night!

Several of our emergency medicine clinicians attended the recent Colorado ACEP 4th Annual Leadership Symposium in Beaver Creek, CO, where they sharpened their leadership skills and participated in a hands-on ultrasound session over the course of the two-day event! Breakthrough research featuring contributions from our very own Eric Arias, MD, medical director of our Neurosurgery and Spine division, was recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine!

A landmark study, the STEM trial, which involved 310 patients, is significant because it provides strong evidence for the benefit of middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization in the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH). It points to a potential paradigm shift in cSDH management, which could move toward less invasive options. The trial results will likely inform clinical guidelines and practice, promoting the use of adjunctive MMA embolization to improve outcomes for patients with cSDH.

🚨 🚨 CarePoint physicians Elizabeth North (teleneurologist), Matthew Grantz (neurologist), and Brock Royall (emergency medicine physician) recently teamed to save the life of a 17-year-old experiencing a stroke. Remarkably, the girl went on to win a silver medal in a dance competition only a few months later.
