Did you know that having a dog in your office lowers cortisol levels?! Studies have also shown interactions with dogs reduce pain, depression and even anxiety, especially in pediatric offices 🐶 we didn’t need more reasons to love Melo, but these data points certainly don’t hurt! He is also trained to identify and assist in seizures; aren’t dogs amazing?! We couldn’t be luckier to have him as a co-worker 😍

Watch out 👀 for W-sitting — when a child sits on the floor with their knees bent, legs out to the sides, and feet behind them forming a “W” shape.

While it may seem harmless (and even comfortable for some kids), over time, this position can cause issues, including:

🚫 Hip & Joint Strain – W-sitting puts excess pressure on the hips, knees, and ankles, potentially impacting joint alignment and development.

🚫 Core Muscle Weakness – Kids often sit in this position to compensate for weak core strength, but W-sitting prevents the trunk from being fully engaged.

🚫 Delayed Motor Skills – It can limit the development of proper balance, coordination, and cross-body movements, all essential for crawling, walking, and beyond.

💡 What to Do Instead?

✔️ Encourage sitting criss-cross (“pretzel style”)
✔️ Try side-sitting (knees bent to one side)
✔️ Use a small bench or child-sized chair for support
✔️ Engage in core-strengthening play: crawling, climbing, or animal walks!

If your little one tends to W-sit, it might be a sign of underlying muscle weakness and can create misalignments. A gentle chiropractic evaluation can help identify and correct issues early on before they become long-term concerns.

Ear infections are no fun, especially for little ones. But did you know chiropractic care is the unsung hero in relieving them?

👂🏼It’s all about the Eustachian tubes! This tube connects the middle ear to the throat and helps to equalize ear pressure and drain fluid. In children, these tubes are often more horizontal, making it harder for fluid to drain, which can lead to ear infections.

📖 A study by Dr. Joan Fallon, a researcher in pediatric chiropractic, found that spinal adjustments, particularly in the upper cervical region, helped improve the function of the Eustachian tubes.
