In honor of OT Month, let's answer the age old question, "What is occupational therapy?"
Occupational Therapy is the practice of helping people establish or restore functional abilities needed to live, play, and work successfully in their daily environment(s). ๐งโ๐คโ๐ง
At school, OTs can help students with fine motor skills needed for writing, cutting, and other classroom activities. OTs can also help with social-emotional health for students, developing coping skills, interaction skills, and behavior management needed for successful play, peer interaction, and classroom participation. ๐
This Spring, our students at GCA are showing how their skills are blooming with 3-D flowers made using fine motor, visual motor and perceptual skills, and problem solving skills. We are so proud of their hard work! ๐ธ
