This season reminds us of what truly matters — family. Whether it’s the family we’re born into or the one we build in recovery, these connections give us strength, purpose and hope. Every step forward is easier when we walk it together. Tasha and Angel both agree, they are “grateful for family” because family matters. At our New Vista North OTP, we’re here to support you and your loved ones on the journey to recovery. Because healing doesn’t happen alone — it happens together.

November 22nd is Survivors of Su***de Loss Day, and we want to acknowledge and to recognize ALL survivors of su***de loss today.

As I reflect on this day, this year has been especially poignant for me and my family. This summer, my 17-year-old son, Thomas A. Brown, walked right by me without saying one word, went into his bedroom, closed the door, and quietly ended his own life. Although Thomas was actively seeing a psychiatrist, meeting with two different therapists, attending family therapy and taking his medications, he made a decision that changed his life and our family's lives forever. Sadly, help was merely steps away.

I am not sure if the dust ever settles, but I can honestly say that I find comfort in knowing that we did everything we knew to do to help Thomas. And, I walk away from this tragedy with the SINCERE HOPE that the work I do every day—supporting our New Vista and New Vista North Opioid Treatment Clinics—will help many people achieve the breakthrough that will SAVE their own lives.

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction or mental illness or both, please reach out to us today. We are offering treatment options that will be tailored to YOU. We are here, ready to listen and ready to help YOU and YOUR LOVED ONES every day!

November honors both Alzheimer’s Awareness and Family Caregivers Month. At our treatment centers, we know that healing doesn’t happen alone — families play a vital role in recovery. Caregivers, parents and loved ones often carry the emotional weight alongside those they support. We see you, we value you, and we’re here to help your family heal together.

Did you know? More than 53 million Americans provide unpaid care to a loved one each year — including those living with chronic illness or behavioral-health challenges (CDC, 2024: http://spklr.io/6187BOhGX).

Every new day is a gift — another chance to grow, to heal and to choose hope. Temi, one of our nurses, put it perfectly, she is “grateful for life”. At our New Vista North OTP, we’re grateful for the opportunity to help others rediscover the beauty of life. If you or someone you love is ready to take the next step, we’re here to help.

This November, we honor our nation’s Veterans and Military Families. At Valle Vista Health System, our New Vista OTP's recognize the strength it takes to serve — and the courage it takes to seek help.

Between 2010 and 2019, the overdose mortality rate among U.S. Veterans increased by 53% (National Institutes of Health: http://spklr.io/6183BMO6t). Recovery support saves lives — and we’re here for every step forward.
