Do You or Someone You Know Suffer from Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia affects an estimated 6–12 million people in the United States, and around 90% of those diagnosed are women.
What Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition that causes widespread muscle and joint pain, fatigue, sleep problems, and “brain fog.”
Researchers believe it occurs when the brain and spinal cord amplify pain signals — a process known as central sensitization.
When this happens, even mild pressure or movement can cause significant pain. The condition often leads to a lower quality of life and can be linked with anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders.
The Role of Stress and the Nervous System
Stress plays a major role in fibromyalgia.
When the brain and nervous system experience too much stress, the body shifts into a constant fight-or-flight mode.
This makes it difficult for the “rest and repair” part of the nervous system to function properly, leading to increased inflammation, muscle tension, poor sleep, and ongoing pain.
Over time, this imbalance in the nervous system can contribute to the development or worsening of fibromyalgia symptoms.
How Chiropractic Care May Help
Chiropractic adjustments and brain-based care help reduce stress on the nervous system, restore balance between the fight-or-flight and rest-and-repair systems, and improve communication between the brain and body.
When your nervous system functions better, your body can rest, heal, and manage pain more effectively.
A 2000 study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that women suffering from fibromyalgia experienced marked improvements in pain, sleep, and energy levels while under chiropractic care.
More recent case reports also describe patients experiencing reduced pain and improved function when chiropractic care was part of their overall treatment approach.
Take Control of Your Health
If you or someone you know struggles with chronic pain, fatigue, or brain fog, it’s time to take a closer look at the brain and nervous system.
Getting adjusted may help your body function the way it was designed to, with less pain and more energy
It’s time to get adjusted.
