Travel Like Soph - Be Free Just Don't Be Stupid - is predicated on the idea that the world does not ‘belong’ to anyone and all have the incredible opportunity to travel in this wondrous world. The interpretation of ‘travel’ here is living which means that every step we take in life actually or metaphorically is us travelling. 'Travel Like Soph' has been set up in order to help people travel like the owner of the business, Sophia Selina Grace Doreena Quilter, this being a ‘brand’ which means to travel with optimism, resilience, solution based attitude, respect for time and organisation, (unless any obvious danger to embrace all situations and beings), a thirst to ‘feel’, integrity, philanthropy and to increase the positive exposure percentage of life for yourself and other beings. Challenging our adventurers and stepping up their ‘travels’ into the unknown can really test in a way that really tests them.

'Travel Like Soph' aims to give our members the stepping stones in the form of practical hints and tips and a way of thinking in order for them to go and try all by their magnificent selves. The end result is intended to ensure that our members feel strong, independent, clever, resilient and energised. Since 2009 Sophia has worked in the outdoor industry as a Freelance Expedition Leader and Outdoor Activity Instructor. She has led expeditions and solo travelled to countries including the UK, Tanzania, Colombia, Morocco, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Malaysia and Uganda. She enjoys travelling solo, her most recent trip has been travelling alone in Colombia. Sophia is a qualified Mountain Leader and also holds a Middle of Nowhere First Aid, Jungle and Tropical Medicine Certificate and a current DBS certificate. She is a PGCE Qualified Teacher and an Ambassador for Teach First. In her spare time Sophia supports the Scout Association in Dorset as an Explorer Scout Leader. 'Whether we believe in luck or not, we do use the word- a lot ! More as a figure of speech than an article of faith perhaps but some do pray for luck, others fantasize about it - and bad luck or misfortune is a staple of comedy

Can Luck be said to exist as some force in our lives and if so, what is its nature? How have people thought about luck in the past and what's changed today? Can you bring good luck upon yourself - there's a school of thought these days that thinks you can without appealing to the divine or supernatural.

In Good Luck Professor Spiegelhalter, the Winton Professor for the Public Understanding of Risk at Cambridge University looks at notions of luck in gambling, traces the origins of how we think about fate and fortune, the religious and psychological view of luck and how the emergence of theory of probability changed our view of it.

He is convinced by the philosopher Angie Hobbs that there is one form of luck it is rational to believe in and by psychologist Richard Wiseman that there is a secular solution to bringing about good fortune in your life.

This was drawn by a wonderful person (splash of light) I met on my travels in Zanzibar - Zeal Chow. For the purpose of the photo I put it on my old fashioned trunk but it actually lives in my display cabinet! It reminds me how wonderful it is to meet great people even if you do not seem them often, or even see them again... even though I hope we shall again one day. Huge congratulations to the latest adventurers of Travel Like Soph who hiked the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike last weekend, in what most would say quite challenging weather! Wonderful weather some may say, others may say slightly different, indeed, as well as challenging, but yes rather challenging! Strong winds and constant rain! Absolutely fantastic group. Such wonderful attitudes, lots of laughs and interesting conversations! Absolute pleasure to be with. Along with the rather great hike we had whiskey in our private bar, plenty of food, fancy transport, card games in the cool hotel living room, a boat trip around Lake Windermere, and visited the home of Beatrix Potter! Get in touch with Travel Like Soph for the next planned adventure or tell us some dates, places and give us a group number and we can arrange for you, either exclusively or could let other people know to join in :)

Three places have unexpectedly become available for the Lake District 6th-8th October Trip 2017. The aim being, to hike up the highest mountain in England, make and develop friendships, relax and have fun in the hotel. Please see video from last weekend. Colombia - Andes - Mount Quindio Trek - Go further than the crowd... go further than Cocora Valley.... up, up and up and really into the Andes :). This was the trek after our night in a very cool finca (farm house), about 3000 m high. Freezing cold water, homely hot food, a few friendly trekkers, a real working family, friendly and funny guides, beds where you needed ten blankets :), just idealistic views, so quiet... I am sat in a house in Hackney at the moment with the noises of the city and just quite amazing to think this place is existing at the same time...

Kilimanjaro - We sang songs every time we finished part of the trek. This was right at the end outside their office before we said goodbye. The reason why I only have a video of this one is that all the other times I was just having too much fun to get my phone out but I knew I had to get some memory on video, hence this one. The reason why the video goes up and down so much is that I was dancing along while taking the video :) I been told that the words are eat eat and then you say your name, then eat eat and someone elses name until everyone has been invited to eat :) Not eat eachother but eat the epic food that gives you stregth for the mounatins and something to share with your comrades. This is our whole team, porters, cooks, guides, fellow trekker and camp manager.
