Direct Primary Care practices and patients have been waiting for this for a long time, and it's finally a reality! Legislation taking effect Jan 2026 now correctly defines DPC as a primary care service rather than insurance. This means patients will be able to start using HSA dollars to pay for the monthly fees. Allowing pre-tax dollars to be used for monthly fees will substantially reduce the cost for most DPC patients.

Can I use HSA for DPC? Starting 2026, you can legally use HSA funds for Direct Primary Care memberships. Learn how to prepare now.

Have you been avoiding insurance due to the high cost? There are options which can save you quite a lot of money, provide security for unexpected expenses and work very well with Direct Primary Care offices like ours. Health care sharing ministries have been around for a long time, but recently there have been additional options such as plans by Farm Bureau (https://www.infbhealthplans.com/) that are definitely worth your while to check out. Both their major medical and high deductible plans can be significantly less expensive for some patients than Marketplace or employer plans. Combining plans like these with an office like ours can lower your costs in additional to allowing you to benefit from the higher level of service Direct Primary Care offices offer.

We are hiring an experienced phlebotomist with excellent customer service skills and managerial ability. In our small office, there will be varied duties including phlebotomy, front desk attendance, rooming patients and managerial duties. The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional, and eager to learn and fill any office position as needed. We will be moving to a newly constructed office by the end of 2021 and one of our goals is to expand our phlebotomy services. As our phlebotomy services continue to grow, we anticipate that this division of our practice will function as an autonomous division of our practice with the phlebotomist managing the operations. Duties will include drawing blood, checking lab patients in and out, preparing samples for lab pick-up, working with our lab partner to obtain supplies, maintaining and updating our lab test database and lab price database, and reconciling our lab partner invoices.

About our office
We currently provide two separate types of service at our office. Half of our office is a Direct Primary Care office. This is a family medicine practice that operates on a monthly fee basis rather than an insurance basis. Most of our patients either have high deductible insurance or no insurance and find that they receive better care than traditional offices while often paying less out of pocket. Our lab services are currently part of this division and includes providing discounted labs to both patients and non-patients. The second half of our office is a cosmetic laser office. We offer many types of laser procedures including hair removal, tattoo removal, spider vein removal and various other laser procedures.

Pay
The pay for this position will be very competitive and you can expect to earn more than a typical phlebotomist. Pay range is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience and/or ability. Paid vacation will be provided. A Simple IRA with employer match will also be provided. Additionally, our office has a workout room and shower facilities which may be utilized as desired. EV chargers will be available at the new office for employee use. Smoking on our premises is strictly prohibited and smelling of smoke at any time during work hours is also strictly prohibited.

A lot is happening in the Direct Primary Care (DPC) world this year. Earlier in the year, Indiana passed DPC legislation with rare bipartisan support. This legislation serves to define DPC and make certain it is not considered insurance, and therefore not regulated by the Department of Insurance (which would be exactly opposite of what we do).

And now, the Indiana State Medical Association has been covering the DPC trend in our state. Here's a link to the most recent article which highlights Hector Family Medicine as well as a few other Indiana practices.
