More than 60 residents and guests took part in a guided bourbon tasting last night that focused on learning, exploration, and appreciation of the craft.

Marketing Counselor Matt Koone led the experience, walking guests step-by-step through each tasting. He explained the purpose of using specialty bourbon glasses and guided participants through the aromas and flavors of each selection. Matt also shared background on each of the three selections, including where they were distilled and the tasting notes that made each pour unique.

Small plates with thoughtfully paired snacks were provided to highlight certain flavor notes and soften others, making the tasting more approachable for residents who may not typically enjoy bourbon on its own.

Special thanks to Pascal's Cafe & Grill for their partnership and for allowing us to use their bourbon glasses for the event.

It was a meaningful and engaging evening, and we look forward to offering more guided tasting and educational experiences like this in the future. 🥃

Grateful to host our annual Christmas lunch for our staff here at Wesley Commons. It was a chance to slow down, share a good meal, and thank the team whose care, kindness, and commitment make this community feel like home every day.

They say there’s no place like home for the holidays—and what better way to celebrate than with a “hometown” concert by our very own, incredibly talented Wesley Wonders? The joy these performances bring to our residents—both those participating and those watching—is evident at every concert throughout the year. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people who make these special events possible!

Our 2025 Christmas Family Social at the HRC was a wonderful evening, bringing residents and families together to share a great meal and meaningful fellowship. We were even joined by a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, adding a little extra joy to an already memorable night.

Huge congratulations to Joan Silvestri —our very own Wesley Commons resident—on being named State Volunteer of the Year at the South Carolina Healthcare Association Conference! 🏆💛

Through countless hours of service Joan has shown what it looks like to lead with heart, purpose, and generosity. This honor is so well-deserved—and we’re proud to celebrate the compassion and impact that Joan brings to our community and far beyond!

The 2025 Wesley Commons Pie Contest was a sweet success! 😋

Our panel of judges (L-R)— President/CEO David Buckshorn, VP of Operations Kim Moody, Chef Dan Manzer, Dining Committee Chairwoman Lorah Perry, and Resident Council President Nancy Schwarz — had the very tough job of tasting every delicious entry.

And while the contest pies were reserved for judging, our culinary team made sure spectators didn’t feel left out by baking extra pies for everyone to enjoy. Friendly competition never tasted so good!

We recently had a wonderful visit from the women of Zeta Tau Alpha at Lander University! They spent time with our HRC residents creating a fun fall craft, filling the room with laughter, creativity, and new friendships.

A big thank-you to ZTA for sharing their time and helping make the day so special! 🍂💛

Our Assisted Living residents got a real treat this week. A crowd favorite, Jacob Eder, returned to Wesley Commons and did what he does best—getting everyone “All Shook Up.” He serenaded residents with classic Elvis hits along with a few Christmas favorites, moving through the room with the same charm and showmanship our residents love him for. His energy, dance moves, and easy charisma had everyone reminiscing about the legend himself—and already asking when Jacob will be back.
