Discovering and Developing unlimited potential!!

Serving people with disabilities and special needs in Ware Shoals, Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, and Saluda counties. Services include: Day services for adults at four centers located in Greenwood, Lexington, Saluda and Ware Shoals, residential services (26 community residences, 3 supervised living programs, 4 community training home I’s), and Respite services.

Saluda Day Program ended the summer with its 4th Annual Hawaiian Luau. Many activities kept the individuals active with smiles on their faces. They chose the lunch menu and enjoyed their favorite Kona Ice drink from the visiting vendor. The 2025 Hawaiian King, Walter, and Hawaiian Queen, Judy, were crowned.

Being inspired by the SC State Fair outing, the Lexington Day Program made their own caramel apples today. They had different textures of toppings and flavors. Everyone enjoyed this sweet treat.

Save the date! October's “State of Disability Pride SC: Virtual Town Hall,” is coming October 22 at 5:30 pm. This meeting will be held virtually on the Zoom platform. Register to attend by clicking the “Register to Attend” button at the end of this message.

During the event, our Advocacy Team will present the issues people with disabilities are facing today:

We will cover what lawmakers have done at the federal and state levels
We will share practical tips on how to engage
You will leave with knowledge about how these issues impact you
You will leave equipped with how to advocate for your disability community

As a reminder, Able South Carolina is a nonpartisan organization — we believe that it is important to address barriers to political and social information by providing accessible educational spaces for disability communities and their supporters.

Accommodations: We will have ASL and captioning during the event. We will also be on the call to assist you with any other questions related to accommodations.

SC Works Midlands

Chrissy Kohler, First Alert Meteorologist with the Fox Carolina News, visited Burton Center today and gave an interactive presentation on the weather. She discussed everything from thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, hail, snow, high pressure, low pressure, and cloud formations. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session and not only answered a lot of her questions but had questions themselves. "We thank Chrissy for such a great presentation. Everyone was very interested and engaged," stated Laurie Cordell, Executive Director.
