The Medical Academic Center at Indiana Spine Group recently hosted the Cervical Spine Research Society (CSRS) Hands-on Surgical Techniques Course. This course welcomed senior neurosurgical and orthopedic residents, as well as spine surgery fellows, for an interactive educational experience.

Attendees expressed overwhelming appreciation for the valuable knowledge gained and the opportunity to hone their skills in the laboratory, engage in lively case discussions, and network with peers and world-renowned faculty, including our own Dr. Rick Sasso. These leading cervical spine surgeons provided hands-on instruction and shared their expertise in advanced surgical techniques. Events like this highlight the Medical Academic Center's ongoing commitment to excellence in surgical education and innovation.

The Spine Research Society (LSRS) is pleased to offer lecture and hands-on surgical instruction in our 3rd Annual Hands-On Surgical Techniques Course, held October 23-25, 2025, in collaboration with the Medical Academic Center (MAC) and Indiana Spine Group. The course will feature internationally recognized faculty specializing in a number of lumbar spine disorders and will be hosted at Indiana Spine Group's state-of-the-art bio-skills lab in Carmel, IN.

This three-day course is intended for young orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons who are interested in developing surgical skills and techniques necessary for operating with confidence and improving patient care in degenerative lumbar spine surgery. Application Deadline: July 1, 2025

Dr. Michael McCarthy, Spine Surgeon, recently presented at the Lumbar Spine Research Society (LSRS) Annual Meeting held in Chicago. He delivered a talk on minimally invasive transforaminal fusions, sharing insights into the latest techniques and outcomes in this evolving area of spine surgery.

In addition to his presentation, Dr. McCarthy served as a session moderator, leading discussions on key topics including: expandable interbody fusion devices, lateral spine surgery, and the role of deformity principles in degenerative spine surgery.

His contributions reflect a continued commitment to advancing minimally invasive techniques and patient-centered approaches in spinal care.
