At Crossroads Family Medicine, we believe primary care should feel personal again 🩺

That means longer appointments, smaller patient panels, easier communication, and time to truly understand your medical history and goals.

Healthcare should not feel rushed or transactional. It should feel collaborative and thoughtful.

If you’ve ever left an appointment feeling unheard, it may be time for something different.

MYTH: You need to detox your body regularly.
FACT: Your liver and kidneys detox your body 24/7.

There is no evidence that expensive teas, juices, or supplements “cleanse” your system. What actually supports detox pathways? Adequate hydration, fiber-rich nutrition, sleep, movement, and limiting alcohol and to***co.

Your body is already equipped to detoxify itself. It just needs proper support.

If you have questions about supplements or “health trends,” let’s talk.

March is Colore**al Cancer Awareness Month 💙 Screening saves lives.

Colore**al cancer often develops silently, which is why screening beginning at age 45 (sometimes earlier based on risk) is so important. Colonoscopy and stool-based tests can detect early changes before symptoms appear.

Symptoms that should never be ignored include persistent changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss, re**al bleeding, or ongoing abdominal discomfort.

Preventive care is powerful. Early detection dramatically improves outcomes.

📞 Call 317-943-8793 to discuss your screening plan.

March is National Nutrition Month 🥦 and it’s a reminder that food is one of the most powerful daily influences on long-term health.

Nutrition affects blood pressure, blood sugar, inflammation, cholesterol levels, mood, energy, and even sleep. Small, sustainable shifts are more impactful than dramatic overhauls. Swapping one processed snack for a fruit or vegetable each day, adding fiber to breakfast, or increasing water intake can meaningfully improve metabolic health over time.

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine emphasizes nutrition as a foundational pillar in preventing and managing chronic disease.

Healthy eating does not have to be extreme. It just needs to be consistent.

Chronic stress doesn’t just affect mood — it impacts blood pressure, sleep, digestion, immune function, and heart health 🧠❤️

Learning to manage stress isn’t about eliminating it completely, but about building resilience. Movement, sleep, boundaries, nutrition, and social support all matter. Primary care can help identify when stress is contributing to physical symptoms.

February is American Heart Month ❤️ and it’s a good reminder that heart health is built day by day, not just measured at annual visits. Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, sleep, stress, movement, and nutrition all play a role in long-term cardiovascular health.

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine emphasizes that heart disease prevention isn’t only about medication. Regular movement, a fiber-rich diet, stress management, quality sleep, strong social connections and avoiding to***co can significantly lower risk and improve outcomes.

Small changes add up. Whether you’re managing high blood pressure, have a family history of heart disease, or simply want to be proactive, primary care is a great place to start.

❤️ If you want to talk about your heart health or prevention plan, call 317-943-8793.

Lifestyle medicine focuses on treating root causes, not just symptoms 🌿 Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and social connection all shape long-term health.

The American College of Lifestyle Medicine supports using evidence-based lifestyle changes alongside traditional medical care to prevent, manage and even reverse chronic disease.

Primary care is where this approach works best — personalized, practical, and sustainable.
