A great post about Dr. Christopher Mernitz of our Carmel location from our friends Indiana Birth & Parenting. Thanks for sharing!

Stop what you’re doing on this lovely Friday and TAKE A LOOK AT THIS PHOTO!!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you see? Perhaps man in scrubs taking a photo?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s REALLY happening here?!?! Well, we’ll tell ya!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This same man supported the couples wishes, encouraged mom to reach down and catch her baby, and then not long after baby was born, he grabbed the camera from dad and started clicking away!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not everyone in scrubs or a white coat is bad. In fact, the OBs we work with often are INCREDIBLE! The people who have worked within the walls of the Labor & Delivery units here locally for the past 10+ months have tried SOOOOOOO hard to make up for the things patients might be missing out on. Dr. M. saw an opportunity to fill the role of a birth photographer- and he jumped right in without hesitation!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jordan supported this lovely couple this week- now a party of 3- and captured the moment with her phone. We’ve been snapping pictures at births when we can with our phones or a client’s camera- and this is hands down our absolute favorite one we’ve taken!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All the feels over here...congrats to our INCREDIBLE clients + their healthy baby boy! And thanks to Dr. M. always being so fantastic!

Your doulas,
Jordan + Amy 🌿

Go Red for Women! February is American Heart Month

One in three women are diagnosed with heart disease annually. On February 5, wear red to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease.

During the pandemic more people have engaged in unhealthy lifestyles, which can contribute to heart disease. “In most cases, heart disease is preventable,” Dr. Christian Dawes of our Indianapolis North Office said. “Adopting a healthy lifestyle, not smoking, controlling blood sugar and cholesterol and exercising are just a few things that can help prevent heart disease.”

Dr. Dawes said it’s even more important this year to get an annual checkup. “Many people are worried about going to doctor’s appointments or hospitals because of Covid-19. It’s imperative to see your provider on a regular basis and go to the hospital if you are experiencing any symptoms.”

Dr. Dawes is currently accepting new patients at our Indianapolis North and Zionsville locations.
