Struggling to exit patient care?
Speak Up!
(To your current leader, that is…)
I have talked to many clinicians, therapists specifically, who are scared to let their leader know they are interested in doing something different.
The problem is… succession planning.
Most leaders are thinking about their succession plan… who will follow in their role after they leave (promotion, finding a new job, or retiring).
And they are grooming someone for it.
Shouldn’t that be you?
Did you know that many roles are not posted; many times, they are offered to the person who has been in front of the leader the most.
I'm not suggesting that you suck up to your boss.
But I am saying you have to speak up.
And volunteer for projects
Even if you’re not interested in their role specifically, it is so important to let them know you’re interested in something else.
Why?
✅ So they can make a connection for you
✅ So they can involve you in projects to increase your skill set or visibility
✅ So they can mention your name in a room full of opportunities
So, what are you waiting for?
Not sure how to approach the conversation?
