Pruritus ani(anal itching) is a dreadful condition that can be so annoying …however, it is probably one of the most common condition’s I see in my office… and because of the subsequent predictable succesful outcomes, patients are thrilled ..the question I ask them after they have received treatment is “have you thought about your butt today”?.. when they say “no”.. then they realize how far they have progressed… please be aware there can be some “very serious” conditions around the perianus whose original symptoms may be itching/perianal irritation… go to sandyclinic.com!!

Somewhat befuddled by the number of products on line that make these illustrious and sometimes dangerous claims to “remove hemorrhoids” …why dangerous?… because those who submit to this type of soft and innacurate data get their healthcare/hemmorhoid treatment from a “TikTok” advertisement and fail to seek a “hard diagnosis from a qualified provider”… symptoms related to hemorrhoidal disease are very similar to very common “anore**al cancers” and OTC medications just mask the symptoms ….and by ignoring what may be a very serious and potentially deadly condition it allows it to progress until subsequent treatment may not be successful.. exams are not difficult and after 50yrs of treating anore**al disease, this office is very competent in diagnosis and/or treatment when appropriate.. 🩺.. go to

Well… I really did it this time… finally managed to ruin a knee.. MRI revealed “subchondral fracture” and a “tear in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus”… 2-3 weeks could barely walk.. now the pain is better.. but not my attitude.. this has been a very humiliating experience that has caused me to recalibrate my whole attitude towards life.. happy I can even walk.. sad I can’t jog/power walk.. or even walk long distances… will have to become a swimmer, which I am willing to do and be THANKFUL I can do that..I just had a patient with “ALS”… another I just referred out because of colore**al cancer… not whining..well.. just a little bit.. but my perspective on many things has changed dramatically.. appreciating the small things I can still do.. and thanking my Lord that there is a path forward and I will do my part..knowing He will do His!!!✝️

Had a great moment in my office.. older Christian gentleman came in with moderate to severe anore**al bleeding of unknown etiology… it had controlled his life socially for fear of “bleeding through his pants” for the last year..was also losing weight because of being on a low caloric diet to help minimize bowel activity with the hope of reducing trauma to the bleeding site.. he had all the markers of “colore**al/anal cancer” and I was prayerfully asking God to walk through this valley with him… before he got on the table he stated…”I am a Christian and prepared to accept whatever diagnosis you give me”… I confirmed my faith with him and stated that I appreciated that information making it less difficult if the news was not good… in the last couple of months I have seen a couple of re**al andenocarcinomas on patients with similar symptomatology and it was so difficult.. seen hundreds in my career and it is never easy to be the messenger..fortunately it turned out to be large bleeding internal hemorrhoidal disease(grade 3) and it was a celebratory moment for me to inform him of my findings… we started treatment and he returned today with his “happy face” and stated the bleeding was nearly gone… “praise be to Yeshua”… if you have bleeding, change of bowel habits, perianal pain.. seek a “hard diagnosis” before wasting money on OTC medications which may mitigate some symptoms but delay early intervention which may be disastrous… Dr Steven G Cranford
