Yoga Chikitsa is the therapeutic application of yogic principles and practices. It is one of the vidyas, or systems of knowledge and wisdom that require mastery to practice.
Through my decades of practice and study, I have become adept at knowing which yogic principles, poses, and practices are needed and appropriate for certain individuals, and which ones are contra-indicated. I have become a yoga chikitsaka, one who can prescribe yoga to support the well-being of another.
I administer a combination of Ayurvedic lifestyle recommendations to improve digestion and sleep, yog-asana (poses, either active or restorative), yogic practices such as pranayama (breath work), mantra (recitation of a vibrational sound), and yoga nidra (yogic sleep), as well as contemplative practices such as meditation on a teaching from a core text such as the Bhagavad Gita or Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
