I used to be a successful Truck Driver. I would drive all over the country until I became ill while on the road. I wasn't known to take long breaks, but the body would give out when something is wrong. In November 2018, I was diagnosed with kidney disease. The doctor told me I had Chronic Kidney Failure. Getting the news that my kidney was failing was extremely devastating. I knew my life would never be the same and it isn't. My capabilities to do the things I enjoy like driving long distance and jogging are tough some days. My appetite is low or void. Many of my friendships dissipated. It is true, you don't really know who has your back unless you are going through a storm. I had to learn this sad and unfortunate truth. The upside is, my illness brought me closer to family who have done a tremendous job helping me with day to day duties like doctors appointments for testing and dialysis treatments. I am extremely grateful to my parents and siblings. It also has made me conscious of what I put in my body. In addition to keeping myself healthy, I needed to learn how to keep myself in peace. My goal one day is to look forward to having a kidney transplant and going back to normalcy. Thank you for reading and I look forward to updating you soon!

Dialysis is tough mentally and physically.
WITH A BROKEN HEART 💔 AND TEARS 😢 IN MY EYES, NOTHING IS MORE PAINFUL THAN TRYING TO SMILE AND REMAIN POSITIVE, BUT AFTER A DIALYSIS SESSION , A PERSON PHYSICALLY CHANGES AND THEY SUFFER WITH SADNESS. I KNOW MANY OF YOU DON'T GIVE A HOOT ABOUT THIS MESSAGE BECAUSE OF COURSE, THE KIDNEY FAILURE HAS NOT AFFECTED YOU. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE FOUGHT THE FIGHT, OR HAVE A LOVED ONE WHO LEADS OR HAS LEAD A BATTLE AGAINST KIDNEY DISEASE. 💚
