Internal Medical Center Provider Spotlight

Dr. James Gore has been practicing medicine for nearly 40 years. He initially went to dental school and became a dentist in 1982. Dr. Gore furthered his education and received his medical degree from University of Florida in 1986. He served and practiced medicine in the United States Navy in San Diego, California before relocating to his hometown of Griffin, GA in 1992.

His fields of interest include occupational medicine, orthopedics and auto immune disorders. He is a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration and is also a Certified Medical Examiner for the Federal Department of Transportation.

He has participated in numerous medical mission trips over the years serving as both a dentist and physician. He resides in Griffin, Georgia with his wife Kathy and enjoys cattle farming and flying.

Family Medical Center Provider Spotlight

Maggie Maguire, FNP was born and raised in Pike County, and has very strong ties to the local community. Maggie graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Emory University in 2012. She began her nursing career at The Medical Center of Central Georgia Emergency Dept in Macon, Ga in 2012. She then transitioned to Upson Regional Emergency Dept so she could work closer to home as she completed her Masters Degree. Maggie graduated from University of South Alabama in 2016 as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Maggie worked as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner for the past 8 years, and loves the fast pace of emergent/urgent medicine. Maggie joined the Family Medical Center in February 2022, and has enjoyed expanding her knowledge and practice in the family practice setting.

Over the past several years, Maggie has developed a passion for functional health and prevention. She has completed functional health education courses through The Elite NP, and has enjoyed combining that knowledge with traditional medicine to better serve her patients. She enjoys a focus on gut health and lifestyle changes to decrease/ avoid pharmaceuticals.

During her free time she enjoys exercising, cooking, camping, and traveling the panhandle beaches of Florida with her husband, kids, (9,6,4 and 3) and their 3 dogs.

Kholi Whelan APRN has a compassionate and caring nature and approaches each individual with respect, empathy, and has a genuine desire to make a positive difference.

Outside of work, Kholi Whelan APRN is an entrepreneur, wife, mom to her precious son and two kitties, and a good friend you can always call on. She loves to go on walks, play Pickleball, sing, and paint. She loves spending quality time with her family and friends and believes that meaningful connections are the foundation of a balanced, happy life.

Internal Medical Center Provider Spotlight

Rebecca McDaniel is an AANP board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years of experience in multiple areas which include Family Practice, Urgent Care, Critical Care, and Geriatrics.
She has an additional board certification in Critical Care (CCRN). She is also certified with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (DOT CME).
Rebecca received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Gordon College, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Medical College of Georgia , and Masters in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University, and Masters of Science in Nursing from Georgia Regents University.
She has many years of Critical Care nursing experience working in ICU/CCU taking care of critical care and post open heart patients, as well as, several years of management experience as the Director of Intensive Care Unit.
Her faith, family, and friends are very important to her. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She has served this community for many years in a variety of roles.

Meet Michelle Atha, FNP-C

Michelle Atha MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in family medicine and urgent care, who joined the FMC team in 2022. Prior to joining the FMC team she worked in Pain Management for one year.

Michelle earned her Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) from North Georgia College and State University in 2002, later earning her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Clayton State University in 2016. She then obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from UAB at Birmingham in 2021.

Michelle has worked in healthcare for nearly twenty five years, as a bedside ICU nurse she spent her time in Neurology ICU, Neonatal ICU, ENT ICU, and Cardiothoracic ICU. She has a passion for educating her patients, teaching about healthy lifestyles, preventative care, weight loss management, and treating mental health. She believes in empowering her patients and collaborating with them to take control of their life and live healthy.

In her free time she enjoys crafting, exercising, reading, and spending time with her family.

Meet Jacqueline Jester, FNP-C

Jacqueline Lee Jester is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with advanced training in both allopathic and functional medicine. With developing a strong foundation in allopathic medical practices, she recognized the importance of a holistic approach. So, she pursued additional training in functional medicine to better understand and treat the root causes of health conditions. This integrative perspective allows her to bridge the gap to combine traditional medical treatments with lifestyle interventions, nutrition and preventive strategies to optimize patient outcomes. Also, she has a passion for women's health, treating perimenopause and menopause symptoms, offering therapies such as bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, and personalized lifestyle plans. She is committed to empowering women to navigate hormonal transitions with confidence and vitality, ensuring they receive the support and education needed to make informed decisions about their health.

Jacqueline earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southwestern State University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from South University. She holds a functional medicine certification from Functional Medicine University. Also, she is a member of The Menopause Society (formerly known as the North American Menopause Society or NAMS).

Outside of her professional endeavors, Jacqueline enjoys resistance training, restorative mindful practices, continuing education in integrative health, and spending time with family and friends.
