As we celebrate Occupational Therapy month, get to know one of our own occupational therapists, Sadie Schultes, OTD, OTR/L!

Sadie has always been interested in helping people in a holistic way. She discovered occupational therapy in her third year of college and was drawn to it because it has a holistic lens. She states that a patient may come in for shoulder pain, but as an OT she looks at how that pain is affecting things they need and want to do rather than only treating the symptoms.

She joined Total Rehab in June of 2024 after graduating with her Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Creighton University. Sadie is interested in specializing in orthopedics, specifically the upper extremity (shoulder, elbow, and hand). She is looking forward to becoming a certified hand therapist in the future.

She’s passionate about helping people get back to the activities they enjoy or want to do. The best of her job is seeing the improvements people can make and the difference therapy can make in their life just by providing simple tips or tricks.

Outside of seeing patients, Sadie enjoys baking, playing with her puppy, and getting outside.

Happy Occupational Therapy Month, Sadie! We are celebrating you!

Sadie treats patients in both our Grinnell & Sully Clinics!

As we celebrate Occupational Therapy month, get to know one of our own occupational therapists, Samantha Harlan, OTD, OTR/L!

Sam has been interested in occupational therapy since high school when her classmate had a brain aneurysm and talked about how much OT helped him with daily tasks while in the hospital. Occupational therapy is a very special field that tailors the approach to therapy to each person to include their passions and motivations in their therapy goals.

She graduated from Drake University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical and Applied Health Sciences. She then went on to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Drake and graduated in May of 2023. Go Bulldogs!

Sam has special interests in orthopedics, neuro injuries, and pelvic health.

At Total Rehab, she looks forward to getting to know her patients and their interests, and how their injury/issue impacts their ability to perform their desired activities. Sam is passionate about getting people back to doing things they love and being safe during their daily living tasks.

Outside of seeing patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, taking her dog, Blue, on walks and to dog parks, reading and spending time with her family whenever she can!

Happy Occupational Therapy Month, Sam! We are celebrating you!
