✨ Special Wildlife Guest Event! ✨
Cassie — a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and educator — visited us with three birds: an American Kestrel, a Crow, and a Raven. 🐦🪶
She was also joined by her young daughter, who impressed everyone with her expert assistance.
Residents and guests enjoyed the opportunity to get an up-close look at these magnificent birds.
Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge with us! 💛🖤

Meet Bodie! 🐾 He’s a Golden Retriever, Ellen and Delmer Lender have had since he was 8 weeks old. Bodie completed extensive obedience training through the Des Moines Obedience Club, earning his Canine Good Citizen and becoming a certified Therapy Dog through Therapy Dog International. When we visit residents, we always ask first and make sure Bodie is easy to reach so he can soak up all the love—his favorite part! He stays on leash, doesn't take treats (allergies!), and is currently brushing up his skills in Rally class. We hope you enjoy spending time with Bodie when you see us around! 💛 Thank you, Ellen, for sharing Bodie with all of us at the Mayflower.

Edith Renfrow Smith’s life spanned three centuries of American history — from before World War I to the present — and she remained engaged, curious, and active well past age 100.

The first Black female graduate of Grinnell College, Mrs. Smith lived modestly, with zeal and gratitude.
