At the age of 64, Marilyn became prediabetic. As her A1C climbed, she transitioned to insulin injections, eventually reaching 85 units.
“I still enjoyed sweets,” Marilyn said. “I thought the injectors would take care of things and that it wasn’t about what I was eating.”
When her A1C reached 9.2, she was referred by her primary care provider to see Taylor Gersdorf, RN, BSN at the Diabetes and Nutrition Clinic. Concerned for her health and future, she knew she needed Taylor’s guidance to make a change.
“I would highly recommend meeting with Taylor; it’s helped me a lot. I needed that extra push. Now, having to take hardly any insulin is great.”
Since meeting with Taylor, Marilyn’s A1C has dropped significantly. She now takes around ten units of insulin. Talk to your primary care provider to see if a referral to see Taylor is a good fit for you or contact the Diabetes and Nutrition Education Clinic at (641) 236-4323.
