Innovation hits different when you see it up close.

Google is pushing forward progress in the field of Speech-Language Pathology through innovative partnerships, such as in the creation of Project Relate -----an AI- driven app designed to assist individuals with speech disorders, using personalized speech recognition. This is path-blazing in helping people with conditions such as stroke ALS traumatic brain injury, communicated more effectively nearly life.

The visit to the Google campus brought into focus how tech is reshaping speech pathology—smarter tools, more access, and new ways to connect with our clients beyond traditional therapy rooms.

☀️☕ 🚗We started the morning with a Lego session that turned into a full-blown Coffee Attack mission!

D built a super vehicle that launched "cups of coffee” at the enemies! During the build, we practiced auditory discrimination and minimal pairs therapy approaches for phonological speech patterns training---- one brick (and coffee cup) at a time!

Principles of Motor Learning — and why do they matter in articulation therapy?

💬 Motor learning is how our brain builds and refines new movement patterns — like saying a sound correctly!

💬By weaving in principles of motor learning (massed practice, spaced practice, dosage, task-specific practice, goal-oriented practice, variable practice, increasing difficulty, multisensory stimulation, rhythmic cueing, explicit feedback/knowledge of results, implicit feedback/knowledge etc) we help the brain build new motor patterns for clear speech — all while having fun!

Approximately 129 million children and adolescents worldwide between the ages of 5 to 19 years old have ADHD. As many as ⅔ of children with ADHD also have speech and language disorders (including executive functioning concerns) with some studies indicating that the prevalence is as high as 90%.
