🌿 Self-Care vs. Being Selfish 🌿
At The Soul Sanctuary, we talk a lot about self-care but anything taken to the extreme can be unhealthy. It’s easy to confuse between self-care and being selfish but they come from 2 very different energies.
✨ Self-care is a conscious act of love.
It’s taking time to rest, reflect, and recharge so you can show up as your best self. It’s saying no when your spirit is tired and yes when your soul feels aligned. Self-care fills your cup with peace, balance, and presence and from that overflow, you’re able to give more freely to others.
🚫 Being selfish, on the other hand, comes from a space of fear or scarcity.
It’s when we take without giving, dismiss others’ feelings, or make choices that serve only our wants even when they cause harm or disregard someone else’s needs. Selfishness often arises when we’re disconnected from empathy, believing that our gain must come at another’s expense.
💗 But true self-care creates balance, not separation. It honors your needs and respects the needs of others. It’s not about shutting the world out, it’s about nurturing your inner world so you can meet life with compassion and clarity.
Remember: Filling your own cup isn’t selfish.
It’s an act of sacred responsibility. 🌸
