🎉 91 Years Young, Celebrating a Lifetime of Love 🎉

On Friday, we had the honor of celebrating a very special milestone as one of our lovely residents turned 91 years young at Monterey Health and Rehabilitation.

To make the day even more meaningful, some of our wonderful staff came together to create a beautiful canvas portrait of her and her late husband. It was a heartfelt tribute that brought smiles, memories, and a few happy tears.

Moments like these are what make our community so special—celebrating not just birthdays, but the love stories and lives behind them. 💙🩶

Last week, Optalis Healthcare hosted its very first Annual Awards Ceremony in Michigan, and we’re incredibly proud to share that Monterey Health and Rehabilitation was honored with the Charles Dunn Award.🏆

This award recognizes a team’s commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-kept physical environment—because the space our residents live in directly impacts their safety, comfort, and overall quality of life.

We recently underwent our annual fire marshal inspection, and not a single issue was found in our facility. That level of excellence, attention to detail, and pride in our environment is exactly why our team earned this recognition.

A Unit Manager in our Memory Care unit!
Stephanie has been a part of the Monterey team for 7.5 years! She started her healthcare career as a dietary aide in a nursing home, after spending some time helping and interacting with residents, she decided to become a CNA and then onto a registered nurse!🩺When she isn't working, she loves spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as catching the latest reality-rom show like Love is Blind or Married at First Sight!

She has been a part of the Monterey team for 10.5 years! She started her career as an STNA in 2005 and enjoy taking care of the elderly so she became an LPN in 2012, and is currently studying to become an RN.🩺 With the with the longevity of our team and the awesome residents, Monterey has become her home away from home over the last 10.5 years!

Outside of work. Tamra had 4 kiddos, loves gnomes and runs on red bull!

How Do I Know If My Loved One Is Ready for Memory Care?

Although each situation is different, here are common signs to watch for when determining the need for specialized memory care.

Frequent confusion or disorientation – getting lost in familiar places or forgetting close family members and friends.

Wandering – leaving home without telling anyone, especially at night.

Decline in personal hygiene – unable to bathe, groom, and wear clean clothes regularly.

Difficulty managing tasks – struggling with cooking, paying bills, or taking medication correctly.

Unsafe behaviors – leaving the stove on or forgetting to lock doors.

Increased dependence on others – requiring support around-the-clock for daily activities, safety, and health needs.

If you notice several of these signs in your loved one, it might be time to consider memory care options.
