Teresa Anne Hawthorn Reid, born June 25, 1954, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loved ones.
Teresa grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School. She married her first husband, James Allensworth, in November 1971. Though their marriage ended after ten years, Teresa’s journey was far from over. After a life-changing car accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury, she found lifelong love with Stephen Everett Reid. They were married on October 6, 1984, in Ponca City, and through Stephen, Teresa gained two beloved stepdaughters.
Together, Teresa and Stephen built a full and adventurous life. They owned grocery stores across several states, ran produce stands along highways, and later opened antique shops in Arizona and Oklahoma. Teresa loved telling stories about their travels—hauling truckloads of fresh strawberries and antiques from Arizona back to Oklahoma—and the joy they found in life’s simplest moments. Both were devoted animal lovers who adored their three cats, Frank, Poe, and Cheeto, who brought them endless happiness.
In 2017, Teresa and Stephen returned to the Woodward area to be closer to family. After Stephen’s passing in January 2023, Teresa moved to Grand Lake, where she settled into a cottage on her sister Julie’s property. She cherished that time until Julie’s recent passing. From there, Teresa found renewed strength and companionship through her guardian and dear friend, Colleen, who had also been a close family friend to Julie and her late wife, Kerry.
Teresa loved an adventure. Whether it was a planned trip or a spontaneous drive to “somewhere with amazing food,” she was always ready to go. She found joy in flowers, parks, and any place filled with laughter. She especially loved children, and some of her happiest moments were watching them run, play, and worship at South Grand Lake Church. Singing to the Lord and seeing young people praise Him brought her joy like nothing else.
She also treasured quiet moments—reading her Bible, coloring with children, singing along to her favorite Kenny Rogers songs or “Jesus
Loves Me,” enjoying family cookouts, and spending time with those she loved most.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, William Edgar Hawthorn and Nancy Anne Shelton Hawthorn; her beloved husband, Stephen Everett Reid; her sisters, Becky McGuire and Julie Hawthorn; Julie’s wife, Kerry Clausen; and her nephew, Randon Hawthorn.
She is survived by her stepdaughters, LeeRona Marie and her wife, Annette Borurque, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and Michelle Noeel Reid Taylor and her husband, Wayne, of Ponca City; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her aunt, Martha Smith of Eucha, Oklahoma; her brother, Billy Hawthorn of Colorado City, Texas; her sister, Toni Baughman of Ponca City, Oklahoma; her nephew, Jeffrey Baughman, his wife Stevie, and their children of Eucha, Oklahoma; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Teresa also leaves behind her dearest friends who became family: Colleen Colvin of Eucha, Oklahoma; Jewels Purcell, her husband Randy, and their children of San Antonio, Texas; Chris Archer of Spavinaw, Oklahoma; Cody and Melissa McDaris and their children of Langley, Oklahoma; Laura Ames and her wife, Kathy Hale, of Del City; and many others whose lives she touched.
Teresa faced hardships with faith and courage, but she will be remembered most for her love of family, her sense of humor, her determination to keep moving forward, and her unwavering heart for the Lord.
