Chaplain Gary Bishop of INTEGRIS Grove Hospital will begin a four-session grief class on Monday, Oct. 13. Everyone is welcome to the free classes, which are from 7 to 8:15 p.m. on Monday and Thursday for two weeks in the INTEGRIS Board Room.
If Bishop is a familiar name, it is because he has lived in Grove since 1988, with numerous connections to the community. He initially pastored at Grand Lake Baptist Church for six years, and then pastored at Delaware Baptist Church for more than 23 years. He has worked at INTEGRIS twice, first as the marketing director while assisting with the chaplain duties, and now as a part-time chaplain for the last 21 years.
Bishop was also on the Grove City Council, serving for five years. He was vice mayor for two years and mayor for three years, retiring in 2010. He has been a local Cubmaster and sports official, and also announced Grove High School basketball on the radio for 17 years.
Bishop has facilitated grief classes for the past 30 years, but the four-part series beginning Monday will be the first classes he has conducted since the COVID crisis. Read the full story in tomorrow's Grove Sun.
