Wellllll…today turned into one for the books!!! 🤣🐔🚨
First things first — we finally put the finishing security touches on the new coop for part of my 12 rapidly-growing chicks, because apparently they decided overnight that they are basically full-grown raptors . 😂
We split them up, 6 in one coop and 6 in the other, and they have SO much more room now! Although honestly…most of them loved piling on top of each other at bedtime. 🥹🐔
I wanted to separate them by breed anyway so that one day, when I hatch babies, they’ll stay true to breed. 🐓🐓🐓
Of course…there are TWO little oddballs who are the only ones of their breed right now, because I was wasn’t totally thinking ahead when I got them all:
✨ Buttercup — my gorgeous Sicilian Buttercup
✨ And my Leghorn, now officially named “Foghorn Leghorn”…
…who officially confirmed TODAY that he is, indeed, a rooster by letting out his VERY FIRST full-blown crow!!! 🥹🐓
Y’all. I was SO proud and ridiculously excited. 😂❤️
BUT THEN…
While transferring everyone into the new coop so I could clean the old one…”Mr. Leghorn” escaped. 😑
And when I say escaped, I mean he ran under our shed and turned the entire situation into a full-scale comedy event.
He would come out just long enough to mock us…then sprint right back under - a couple times he came out far enough where we had a full on chase around the yard!!!. 🏃♀️🤣
Honestly, if someone had recorded us chasing that chicken, it probably would’ve gone viral. 😂😂😂
Meanwhile, our internet was being repaired AGAIN because the idiot fiber optic installers in town cut the line AGAIN... AND I found out TWO more companies are coming after them!!! 🙃
Lord, give me strength!!! 🤦🏼♀️
Our repair guy came around back, after he saw the chaos unfolding, laughing, and helped us catch the runaway rooster. 😂🐓
God Bless him. 🥰
So FINALLY…
all chicks safely secured.
all coops cleaned.
all chaos was finally contained. 😂
OR SO I THOUGHT.
Later, I ran some errands, and when I got back in my car…my purse was GONE. 😱😱
Cue immediate semi-panic.
I raced back home thinking maybe I forgot it there…
NOPE.
Still gone. 😭
Then I remembered I had stopped at The Grove Coffee & Crafts earlier…
and THANK YOU JESUS 🙌🏻 — my purse was still sitting there, safely waiting for me!! 😭❤️
And to end this wildly chaotic, slightly panicked, but hilarious day…
My son, Tracey, made me a beautiful belated Mother’s Day dinner, since he had to work yesterday. 🥹❤️
He had already spoiled me with a hydrangea bush, roses, and a mum plant… but still insisted on cooking dinner, too.
It was a perfect way to end a chaotic day!! ❤️
