I am a DONA International-certified birth doula. It is my belief that birth is a transformative experience for women and that the experiences in labor are directly correlated to their attitudes towards motherhood and future pregnancies. Birth is a natural and beautifully transformative event, and, with exceptions noted, mothers have the abilities to birth their babies how they choose as long as the
y have the support and resources they need. Women are uniquely designed to birth babies well in most cases, surrounded by supportive, active participants of their choosing in an environment in which they feel comfortable. Knowing the stages before, during and after birth are vital to achieving mom’s preferred birth experience. As a doula, my job is to help protect precious birth memories by providing evidence-based education, resources, and emotional support for mothers, families, and birthing partners. I encourage birth partners to be active participants in the birth experience and I help guide them to be physically and emotionally supportive during the process as I do not replace a birthing partner. I look forward to assisting you throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth. About Me: I am an educator who has taught elementary school in brick and mortar locations and I have also taught online for a university and a private company. I have obtained a master’s degree in Education (Teaching and Learning). When I am not assisting my husband with our family business, I am immersed in seeking connections to the local birth community. I believe that my passion for teaching and for nurturing others is translated throughout my work and my passion for being a doula. I am a mother of a 7 year old son old son who was delivered in a hospital setting, with midwives. My wish is to support mothers and families in having the birth of their choice. No matter your decision to birth your baby, it is my position as doula that I will provide information and resources regarding birthing options to help support your decision in making informed choices for YOUR family. I hope to be a champion for encouraging evidence-based birth practices. I am available for emotional and physical support throughout the birth process, whether it be un-medicated, medicated, Cesarean, in-hospital or out-of-hospital. Every mother should feel empowered about her choices throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I am interested and experienced in natural and medicated births, breastfeeding support and postpartum support.
