We are celebrating TEN YEARS with Dr. Weaver at the helm of GCFID!

This is definitely a team effort! Sue and Chelsie have been with us the entire 10 years (!!) and are absolutely incredible in their positions. Ally, who has been with us for the entire 10 years, except the time she took off to go to dental hygiene school, has been invaluable and adds such a wonderful dimension to the team. Dr. Weaver has also always had fantastic assistants as well, and our current two, Bri and Emma, are no exception. Every single team member jumps in wherever needed, learns the technical and compassionate aspects of their job, and creates an environment of positivity and possibility.

We are so lucky to be part of our patients' lives, and deeply appreciate having the privilege of serving the town of Grundy Center. Thank you for making the last ten years of our lives so meaningful.

(And - a special thank you to all those who made today meaningful by honking as you passed by our office today, per the suggestion of the giant cow stationed in our parking lot!)

Happy Thanksgiving! This is the last day of our 7-day adventure, and today we are turning Facebook over to the one and only Dr. Weaver!

Day 7:

Day 6: Chelsie, our hygienist who has been with us since the very beginning (!!) says: "I am thankful for my amazing family and friends, my great neighbors, my job, and supportive work team! I am also grateful for my health and a place to call home during these uncertain times. This pandemic has reminded me that it’s the simple things in life that are so important!"

Day 5: Emma, the newest dental assistant here at GCFID, is a recent graduate of the Hawkeye dental assisting program. She said, "I’m thankful for all the teachers during this pandemic. Teachers have gone the extra mile to make the transition to teaching online, so that students can continue their education. Thankfully I was allowed to finish my schooling, and I’m very grateful for that as well."

We second those sentiments, Emma -- especially because that meant that she was able to join the team at GCFID! Thank you to SO many teachers who are doubling or tripling their normal workloads in order to accommodate the various needs and requirements of last and this school year!

Day 4: Sue, our awesome front desk guru, is grateful for good medical care that she has had. When a body is sick, it's a huge relief to receive competent, talented, and healing care.

Day 3: Our wonderful dental hygienist, Ally, wrote: "I’m thankful for all of the positivity and acts of kindness I’ve witnessed over the course of the pandemic during the times of panic and confusion. Volunteering, mask making, drive-by birthday recognition, a daycare taking my kids under their wing, to name a few!"

Thank you to the noticed and less-noticed heroes of this year! Truly, small and big acts of kindness and service are what make the world go round.

As we come into the Thanksgiving season, we here at GCFID want to pause and consider on what we are thankful for. For the next seven days, we will post one thing (or more!) every day that we are grateful for. Day 1: We are profoundly grateful for our team at GCFID! Sue, Ally, Chelsie, Madison, and Emma are the hands and feet of this operation. Each contributes widely to the good-natured and relaxed atmosphere that abounds here. Their ability to put patients and parents/guardians at ease is unmatched. We have also had several other incredible team members that have since moved on, but have provided no less a contribution to our team. A giant and sincere THANK YOU to all these hard-working women!

We've been waiting 12 months for this: the first day of our favorite month of the year has arrived! 🍂 To celebrate the beautiful fall season, our friend The Pie Lady - Iowa is going to be baking up some delectable goodies for our patients every.single.Wednesday in October. Cinnamon/apple/raspberry rolls, cookies, and pies, oh my! Schedule your next appointment for a Wednesday this month, or just stop in as you pass by the office. We're pretty sure you won't regret it.

We'd like to know: which flavor(s) of pie is your favorite? How about cookies? We are partial to the caramel apple and French silk pies and the chocolate chip cookies from The Pie Lady - Iowa (all followed up by a good brushing and flossing, of course)!
