Russian River Empowerment Center

Russian River Empowerment Center We are a peer-run mental health and wellness center for those who want to transcend serious and persistent mental health challenges. Funded by MHSA.

We offer workshops, groups, peer support and other activities. The Russian River Empowerment Center is a consumer-driven Peer Support mental health and wellness program with West County Community Services. We provide a safe and supportive haven for those who want to transcend serious and persistent mental illness. With peer support, we nurture positive self-worth, recovery, self-determination, res

ponsibility, and choice. Choosing your own path Empowers you to move from surviving to Thriving. Mental Health Services Act. Our Philosophy
If we see ourselves as a mosaic of our life experiences, mental illness is only part of the picture. We have relationships and experiences that might be influenced by the illness, but are not dominated by it. The colors of the illness don't dominate the picture. You are more than your illness. It does not define who you are. Our intention is to create a supportive community where who you really are is seen and accepted. You have the support to discover a new, life-affirming story.

Do Your Part: Compliance and the State Regional Stay Home Order

With the holidays now in full swing, it may be easy to forget the State Regional Stay Home Order remains in full effect. We all are required to keep to our own households, not gather with others, not travel for non-essential purposes, and in support of local businesses and restaurants only order for pick-up or delivery. Read more about the terms of the State Regional Stay Home Order here.

As a reminder, the following businesses must cease both indoor and outdoor operation:

Hair salons and barbershops
Personal care services, including nail salons
Dining indoor or outdoor (available for pick-up/to-go only)
Wineries, bars, breweries and distilleries (except for operations related to production, manufacturing, distribution and retail sales for off-site consumption)
Hotels, vacation rentals, and short-term lodging sites restricted to essential travel only (limited exceptions allowed for out-of-state travelers)
Movie theaters (except for drive-in theaters)
Family entertainment centers
Museums, zoos, and aquariums
Live audience sports
Amusement parks

Help Reopen Our Economy and Save Jobs:

COVID-19 infection rates in Sonoma County continue to climb, and it is incumbent upon all of us, individuals and businesses alike, to comply with the Stay Home Order. The City of Santa Rosa continues to educate the community and local businesses about the intricacies of the Order, but has progressed to enforcement for businesses and individuals who continue to operate in violation of the Order.

If you witness a violation of the Order, you are encouraged to report it one of these three ways:

Call: 1 (833) SAFE707 (1-833-723-3707)
Email: safe707@sonoma-county.org
Online: SoCo Report It

We understand this is a complicated and difficult time for many. Please continue to support our local businesses by buying gift cards, ordering take-out or opting for curbside pick-up, and not patronizing businesses in violation of the Order.

Peer to Peer Support for those practicing medicine:

o We all get tired and overwhelmed from time to time. Now there is someone to talk with who shares your experiences and understands the responsibilities of practicing medicine. It is YOUR turn to receive confidential and empathetic listening.

o During your Zoom appointment you will be talking with a medical practitioner like you. The conversation will be based on what you decide to discuss – and remains completely confidential. No therapy, no records. Being heard in a nonjudgmental way builds strength. Having received support for yourself, you can work with renewed compassion and again find joy and inspiration in your work.

A pilot project of Edmee Danan, MD a psychiatrist-psychotherapist with over 30 years' experience, and supported by West County Health Centers, The Listening Room is open to all medical practitioners. This is not therapy – this is peer-to-peer support through conversation and a human connection.
