Most of my friends, family, and clients know that I lived with chronic pain for most of my life, and the emotional weight that came with it. The frustration was that I wasn’t getting better. Finally, I realized I had to turn inward and take matters into my own hands. That step led me onto my own healing journey, where I began to understand that the mind, the body, and the spirit all have to work together.

As my body began to change, I felt called to study what I was experiencing and eventually to share it with others through Pure Symmetry Wellness. Today, I want to speak about the body, the material terrain, and how restoring balance in the gut became an essential part of my healing. ❤️‍🩹

Your gut is not just about digestion. It regulates your immune system, your thyroid, your skin, and your inflammatory response.

New research is confirming what we see every day. When the gut heals, inflammation settles. Hormones stabilize. The body begins to regulate itself again.

Nothing in the body operates in isolation. 🪷

The work is restoring balance at the root. 🕊️

Healing is not linear. But when you understand where to begin, everything changes.

108 days. 2,300 miles. One message: peace. 🕊️

Through brutal weather, physical strain, and unexpected setbacks, these Buddhist monks walked from Texas to Washington, D.C., arriving on schedule with unwavering commitment.

Today, the peace gathering and concluding ceremony takes place at the Lincoln Memorial from 2:30 to 4:00 PM, followed by a global meditation from 4:30 to 7:30 PM.

This walk was not symbolic. It was disciplined. Intentional. Embodied.

Peace is not something we post about. It is something we practice. Step by step. Breath by breath. Choice by choice.

As an interfaith offering, this journey reminds us that compassion transcends politics, religion, and ideology. It asks each of us to regulate within before we try to influence without.

At Pure Symmetry Wellness, we believe inner coherence creates outer harmony. The way we walk through our lives matters.

May we each carry this forward in our own communities.

monthly blog:

What connects most of us is vulnerability.

Many of us carry a quiet sense of unworthiness without realizing it. A feeling that we are not enough. That something is wrong. That we need to stay alert in order to belong, to be loved, or to stay safe.

This is not because something is broken in us.

It is because our nervous systems learned to protect us.

When we grow up in environments where stress is constant, emotions are managed instead of met, or safety feels conditional, the body adapts. It learns vigilance. It learns to stay on guard. Over time, that high alert state becomes familiar and can quietly shape how we live.

But this is an important distinction.
This is not your personality.
It is not who you are.

It is your mind and nervous system doing their best to keep you safe.

Being stuck in high alert is being stuck in a model of who you think you are. A model built around threat detection and survival. Over time, that model can show up in the body as chronic inflammation, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, depression, weight struggles, and autoimmune patterns.

When the body is constantly preparing for threat, inflammatory signals stay switched on. The system never fully rests.

Teachers like Ram Dass and Tara Brach speak directly to this. They describe what they call the trance of unworthiness. The belief that we are flawed at the core and must protect ourselves from being fully seen.

Ram Dass reminded us that when we can accept who we are and know we are lovable as we are, fear begins to dissolve. He spoke about allowing the beauty of the soul behind the personality to be seen, just another radiant bit of light.

Tara Brach teaches that when we gently observe fear rather than trying to fix it, something shifts. The sense of separateness softens. The nervous system no longer has to work so hard to defend an identity built around protection.

The invitation is simple, but not easy.
Observe the fear.
Watch it.
Allow it.
Do not get overly involved with it.
Just notice it.
Begin there.

So what actually helps the body stand down?

Nervous system focused work matters. Neurofeedback can help the brain learn new patterns when hypervigilance is deeply ingrained. Trauma informed therapy, including EMDR and CBT, can help reprocess stored threat and update old survival predictions. Trauma informed yoga and specialized nervous system based movement can help the body experience safety through gentle, supportive practices rather than force or performance.

The work I personally do focuses on helping the nervous system settle and reorganize from within. This includes homeopathy, vagal toning strategies, neurofeedback, and nervous system focused support that meets the body where it is.

None of this is about fixing yourself.
Because you are not broken.

It is about helping a protective system realize it no longer has to work so hard.

And slowly, as safety replaces vigilance, the body follows. Inflammation quiets. Energy returns. The mind clears. The system remembers how to rest.

That is not bypassing fear.
That is allowing it to loosen its grip.

Nervous System Support for Chronic Stress and Anxiety

When your nervous system is supported, everything changes.

Stress, anxiety, and emotional overload don’t live only in the mind. They are nervous system patterns shaped over time.

I provide virtual, clinically informed nervous system care, integrating life coaching with homeopathy and targeted orthomolecular nutrition, to support regulation, reduce reactivity, and address long-standing stress.

This work is structured, compassionate, and focused on helping your system settle so you can think more clearly and feel steadier.

Virtual sessions available.

EVER NOTICE YOU DOING THIS?

Doom scrolling at night
Binge watching just to settle down
Getting startled easily
Feeling overly sensitive to criticism
Always a little on edge

THIS ISN’T RANDOM.

These are often signs of a nervous system stuck in high alert.

That’s where my work begins.

As we move into the New Year, I want to pause and speak to something that often comes up around this time.

The idea of a “New Year’s resolution” can subtly suggest that something about you needs improvement or correction. In my work, I see this very differently.
You are not broken.
Your body is not failing you.
Your nervous system is not doing anything wrong.
It has been responding intelligently to your life, history, stress, losses, and responsibilities. Healing, regulation, and growth don’t come from deciding you aren’t okay. They come from listening more closely, responding with care, and allowing change to unfold at a pace your system can tolerate.
If you feel drawn to anything this year, I hope it’s curiosity rather than pressure, compassion rather than self-criticism, and support rather than self-discipline.
