Back pain isn’t always just about “tight muscles.”
Often, it’s about how the joints of your spine — the vertebrae — are moving.

Each vertebra should glide and rotate in a very specific way to allow for efficient, pain-free movement. When a segment becomes hypomobile (restricted), the surrounding joints and soft tissues are forced to compensate. Over time, that altered joint mechanics can drive stiffness, muscle guarding, and persistent discomfort.

Hands-on manual therapy targets those restricted segments directly.

Through skilled joint mobilization, we:
• Restore accessory motion between vertebrae
• Improve segmental mobility
• Reduce protective muscle tone
• Enhance overall movement quality

When the spine moves better, the nervous system calms down, load is distributed more evenly, and functional movement improves.

Manual therapy isn’t a passive fix — it’s a precise tool we use to improve joint mechanics so your exercise and daily movement become more effective.

If your back feels “stuck,” it might not just need stretching — it may need mobility restored at the joint level.

Something new is coming for our patients (and the world!)

We’re excited to announce that Paul Bauer has been developing a new warm up app — built right here inside the clinic.

This tool will allow you to take our full body movements and warm ups outside of the clinic so you can stay consistent, move better, and progress with confidence even after injury.

Designed by a PT. Built for real patient success.

Stay tuned — more details coming soon.

Scar massage is a crucial part of post op recovery.

Dense scar tissue can limit tissue gliding, which can affect your movement patterns and increase your pain.

Scar massage can be done by hand on your own home. It can also be done in your therapy appointments or with tools such as the cup to promote additional gliding.

Follow it up with exercise to encourage continued tissue, gliding and retraining how to utilize that new range of motion you have gained.

Talk to your therapist about when you should be starting scar massage after an injury or surgery.

This weekend our Occupational Therapists attended the Regional Summit for

Vivistim is an FDA approved vagal nerve stimulator currently being used for motor recovery of upper extremities following ischemic stroke.

This neurological technology has research supporting effectiveness and has had incredible results in terms of functional return!

Our Occupational Therapists are amongst the first in the state of Connecticut to offer Paired Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) therapy services.

Do you or someone you know have upper extremity issues following an ischemic stroke? Come in for a consultation to determine if you’re eligible!
