Balance is not just about strength—it’s a coordinated effort between the nervous system, muscles, and sensory input.

Our Neuro Occupational Therapists use targeted balance challenges, such as unstable surfaces and reaching tasks, to improve postural control, body awareness, and safety during everyday activities. This type of training helps patients feel steadier on their feet, move with more confidence, and reduce fall risk—especially during the winter months when ice and snow increase hazards.

Occupational therapy focuses on improving function where it matters most: real life. If balance concerns are limiting your safety or independence, we’re here to help.

As we age, our balance declines due to muscle weakness, joint stiffness, slower reflexes, and changes in vision. But did you know that the proprioceptive and vestibular systems also play a huge role?

Proprioception is your body's ability to sense movement and position—this fades over time, making it harder to react to uneven surfaces.

The vestibular system (inner ear) helps with spatial awareness and stability, but age-related changes can cause dizziness and unsteadiness.

Working with an occupational or physical therapist can retrain these systems, improving strength, coordination, and confidence with every step! 💪

🚶‍♂️ Let’s keep you moving safely and steadily.

Feeling dizzy? It might be more than just standing up too fast.

Here are 3 signs it’s time to see a Physical Therapist for vertigo

✅ You’re experiencing sudden spinning sensations
✅ Everyday movements make you feel off-balance
✅ You’ve been told it’s “just vertigo” but it’s not getting better

A skilled PT can assess, treat, and often resolve vestibular issues safely and effectively. Don’t let vertigo control your life—get back to steady ground.
