About Me

I first began my social work career as an intern at Womenโ€™s and Childrenโ€™s Hospital in 2005- the day after Hurricane Katrina hit. It was a โ€œtrial by fire,โ€ experiencing the chaos of the NICU as we accepted infants from the New Orleans area, and transported them to various hospitals across the South, attempting to locate families and resources in a State of Emergency. From that point on, my path was clear. My entire social work career has been working with the maternal populationโ€”at Womenโ€™s and Childrenโ€™s and now in my role as the LCSW Case Manager of NICU, Labor and Delivery, and Mother/Baby at Lafayette General Medical Center. I am passionate about maternal mental health issues, especially those related to perinatal and postpartum mood disorders, adoption, maternal substance abuse, and infant loss. After 10 years of clinical hospital experience working with women during the most vulnerable and courageous time of their livesโ€”from pregnancy and childbirth through the post-partum period-- I can offer a unique understanding of the issues many women face during an experience that is expected to be wonderful and happy. Pregnancy loss, prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety, and other perinatal issues can be devastating, and leave a woman feeling helpless, scared, and guilty, even years after delivery.

I am excited to be opening up my services to the women of Acadiana, and I am so very appreciative of all of the support I have received along this journey.
