From Dr. McCollough:
I respectfully ask that you read this timely announcement carefully and thoughtfully.
Since there continues to be some confusion regarding the changes taking place within the McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic and at the McCollough Institute, I feel the need to provide updated and additional clarification.
The takeaway message from this announcement is this: I have no plans to retire!!!
Instead, as part of the negotiations referenced in my November 2024 communique, I’ve chosen to exercise the option of regaining full ownership and management of my practice. That process was recently completed.
Going forward, I will continue to perform naturally appearing face, neck, eyelid, nose, and external ear surgery, as well as injectable and skin rejuvenation procedures.
Equally as important, I will re-establish protocols that earned McCollough Plastic Surgery its local and international prominence. Part of the reorganization process involves changes in the clinic’s professional staff.
As previously announced, Dr. Carrie Morris will no longer be affiliated with McCollough Plastic Surgery, nor will the spa. They will remain with Inspire Aesthetics.
Dr. Brentley Taylor has taken a leave of absence. His return date to practice, location, and affiliation(s) are uncertain. We will share additional information when it becomes available.
These developments evolved during the renegotiation of my expiring contract with Inspire Aesthetics, the national network of plastic surgery centers, with which McCollough Plastic Surgery and the Med-Spa had joined in 2022.
After considering the available options and with my interests in pursuing ventures and initiatives beyond the boundaries of the Inspire Aesthetics contract, Inspire and I amicably agreed to end the relationship and return to the 2022 pre-merger arrangement.
I am honored to have been included in Inspire’s venture and wish them well in the years ahead.
Regardless of what you might hear, through the grapevine, nothing about my decision to leave the network means that I am retiring!
The McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic, along with the appearance- and life-enhancement services we’ve provided for decades, will remain in the same space within the McCollough Institute, where it has been located for the past quarter-century.
In addition to the above, I look forward to participating in a variety of local and international surgical and non-surgical initiatives. Each designed to help fellow human beings improve themselves and, thus, humanity… at every age.
So, it should be clear that neither I nor the McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic is going away. To the contrary, with the divestiture from Inspire Aesthetics, the plastic surgery practice and patient experience that have withstood the tests of time and all manner of competition on the world’s stage are being recreated in their original and time-honored image.
As you may or may not know, I have a deeply rooted athletic background. From Coach “Bear” Bryant, my teammates and I learned a valuable life lesson: when a member of any team takes leave or, for various reasons, is unavailable, the coach calls upon a qualified replacement who has been waiting in the wings.
It is a process of team-building and continuity I’ve embraced and replicated on numerous occasions during my career and my clinic’s quest for distinction in the world of human enhancement.
In keeping with that commitment and legacy, going forward, highly qualified and experienced head-to-toe plastic surgeons who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to join the McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic, will step in to perform aesthetic procedures throughout the body. They will also provide ongoing care for those of you who have previously undergone body, breast, and extremity procedures at our clinic, as well as other services.
To be clear, as I have throughout my fifty-year career, I will continue to perform plastic surgery of the eyelids, face, neck, nose, and external ears, along with skin enhancement and injectable procedures.
My staff and I hope that you, your family, and your circle of friends will continue to trust McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic with your appearance enhancement and age management goals.
Be assured that if, at any point, I determine that your condition(s) require a service or procedure that I, or my team, don’t offer, as has been my practice since the day I became a physician, I will recommend the most qualified and like-minded professional I know for you and your family.
Beyond regaining ownership and management control of my practice, as part of a calling to keep fellow human beings informed about current trends in the appearance-enhancing industry and how unproven “trends” compare to time-tested protocols, I have updated my patient information guide, previously known as The Appearance Factor.
In keeping with the theme of connecting the past with the present and the future, the guide’s new title is The McCollough Plastic Surgery Experience. It is based on the fact that the longer I perform appearance-enhancing surgery, the more I realize that first-hand experience counts. That “new” and “different” are not always better.
My calling and mission are to provide you with recommendations that yield the best and most natural results, while taking into consideration the associated options, risks, inconveniences, and costs. I believe you’ll find that my updated patient information book complies with that commitment.
By the time you receive this announcement, the e-book version of “The McCollough Plastic Surgery Experience” should be available on my website, mccolloughplasticsurgery.com. Hard copies are expected to be available in late July. Both versions are offered free of charge and without obligation to anyone who requests them.
Before consenting to any appearance-enhancing procedure or product, regardless of the source, I strongly recommend that you download and thoughtfully read The McCollough Plastic Surgery Experience. For example, one section suggests a series of questions you should ask any appearance-enhancing professional you consult, such as:
· How many of the procedures you are recommending for me or a member of my family have you personally performed in your career?
· How many of them have you performed during the past year… the past month?
· Can you show me before-and-after photographs of patients on whom you’ve personally performed the procedures you’re recommending for me?
In the book, I provide additional questions and explain that any hesitation in answering them proudly, succinctly, and forthrightly should be a signal to seek consultation elsewhere.
The newly revised version also provides numerous before-and-after examples of the “natural-looking” results that I (and other members of my team) have achieved.
It also suggests that you revisit one of your own photo albums and review a photo of yourself taken 10-15 years previously. That’s how those pursuing age-reversing surgery should expect to look following the procedures and protocols I recommend and perform.
On a personal note, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the confidence that you, your family, and your circle of friends have shown in my clinic(s) and me.
